What streaming service carries Virgin River?

Virgin River sure knows how to end a season on a cliffhanger. The Netflix drama's third season concluded with a moment nearly as shocking as the second season's final episode, in which Jack (Martin Henderson) was shot by a still-unnamed perpetrator. Season four is arriving on Netflix on July 20–here's what to expect from the new season.

In short, Jack and Mel's (Alexandra Breckenridge) relationship is handed yet another plot twist, albeit one a bit less bloody. Mel is pregnant—and she's not sure if the baby is Jack's. Her announcement interrupts Jack's marriage proposal.

The reveal hits on the precise tension that Jack and Mel were grappling with throughout season three of Virgin River. While Jack and Mel are deeply in love, they're conflicted over their relationship's future—specifically when it comes to starting a family. Mel, who experienced a traumatic miscarriage with her husband Mark (Daniel Gillies), wants to try for another child. Jack, who just had twins with Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), doesn't know if he has the emotional and financial bandwidth for a third child.

During their brief breakup, Mel makes a decision that may change the course of her relationship with Jack. Though her husband died, she still had his sperm stored, and impulsively decides to try and have a child on her own. When she becomes pregnant, she's not sure if the baby is Mark or Jack's.

And that's just one of the finale's revelations. Here's what we know about season four, and what we want to know.

Season Four arrives in July.

Fans of the show don't have to wait long for new episodes: In May, Netflix confirmed that season 4 of Virgin River will arrive on July 20, 2022. The new season contains 12 hour-long episodes.

Virgin River has been confirmed for a fifth season, too.

Virgin River is one of Netflix's most popular series. According to Deadline, season three of Virgin River unseated The Crown in the top spot in Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings, reportedly racking up almost 1.8 billion minutes of viewing from November 30 to December 6, 2020. In addition to season four, which is airing this summer, Virgin River has been renewed for season five in the future.

And the cast will return.

As you'll see below, there are clearly a lot of plot lines to wrap up, which means the cast will return. But things are changing. Ricky (Grayson Maxwell Gurnsey) has enlisted in the Marines, for example, and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) is considering moving back to California. Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) left the town of Virgin River as well.

The remaining main cast members include Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel); Martin Henderson (Jack); Daniel Gillies (Mark); Colin Lawrence (Preacher); Teryl Rothy (Muriel); and Benjamin Hollingsworth (Dan Brady). Since season three featured two new cast members, season four will introduce new faces too–including Kai Bradbury, who plays Doc's long-lost grandson Denny, and Mark Ghanimé, who joins the cast as a handsome new doctor named Dr. Cameron Hayek.
