Hey Folks, I was hoping I could get some guidance from people here. This is a fairly new thing to start happening to my FO4. I keep having my mods resetting themselves and restarting as if I were starting the game for the first time. This deletes things that I had built in my settlements already, restarts questlines from the beginning, etc. I was hoping someone else may have run into this and knows of a fix, because this is the first time I have encountered it and the posts I am finding online are all from back in 2015 or 2016. I make use of Vortex to install my mods via the Nexus.
Don't use the launcher. Start the game directly or through F4SE, or make sure your modlist is set to read-only.
Im launching it trough F4SE, but they still reset. How can I change the modlist preference to read only?
Are you also trying to use Bethesda mods? Setting the files to read-only shouldn't be required anymore, I just checked mine and they aren't. I install using NMM then launch through F4SE and they never reset. I can't think of why else they would for you. The files are in: C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Fallout4 I don't remember which one to make read-only, maybe all of them. Should stop them from resetting if nothing else works, just remember that you set them to read-only.
It's the plugins.txt file. But I think I remember, that NMM always wanted to set it NOT to read-only. I selected yes in a window, which always popped up before NMM
launched. Last edited by Kennedy; 7 May, 2017 @ 4:25am
Update your version of NMM to the latest 0.63.14. About a year ago, Beth changed the format of the Plugins.txt file and older versions of NMM could not read/write it correctly, causing the exact issue you're describing.
