Best Dr Squatch soap scent Reddit

Hi reddit. I just started using Dr. Squatch a few months ago and i fell in love with the scents. I’m very partial to the wood barrel bourbon, and the cold brew cleanse, which scents do you recommend to pair with these? (Im getting all of the products i can)

The best scents can differ from person to person but for a teen I think Wood Barrel Bourbon, Bay Rum, Fresh Falls and Wisdom Wash would be great.

Take u/BostonCelt1cs99’s advice by subbing and applying a promo code. You’ll save money on shipping(assuming your order total was going to be less than $50) and get any bar except the Batman bars for $6.

Things to be aware of:

  1. Order fulfillment might take longer than you expect.

  2. Bars might not always be cured well. What you can do is take them out of their box and let them breath for a bit.(I like to place them on top of their boxes in a cabinet for 2-3 weeks) this also helps with increasing longevity.

  3. They might not last as long as other bars of soap you’re used to. What some people do and I’ve tried this as well is cut the bars in half and use one half at a time. Trust me this increases their lifetime. Some even go as far as quarters but I feel like that’s too small to hold.

So a piece of advice would be to order sooner rather than later. That way you can deal with numbers 2 and 3 earlier. Also I have yet to try a bar that wasn’t sold by DrSquatch’s website. But a lot of users on this subreddit have said that bars at Walmart seem to be weaker than bars purchased directly from DrSquatch.

I know this was long but I had a bit of free time and hope this helps you out.

Best Dr Squatch soap scent Reddit

I personally enjoy Dr. Squatch soap. The commercials and marketing tactics are hilarious and smart in my opinion, and even if YouTube does play their commercial too much, just don’t listen to it, or hit the skip button. My favorite scents are Pine Tar, Bay Rum, Crisp IPA, Nautical Sage, and Spearmint Scrub. My least favorite is the Gold Moss Scrub, it’s way too dense of a bar and the lather is just a tad too thick. The hair care kit is nice smelling and cleans well, but unfortunately I hate to say that natural shampoos don’t work on my hair. I use a lot of hair product, and I need those synthetic detergents to wash it out. Finally, their Pine cologne is of good quality, great scent, and lasts long enough. The soap saver works as advertised, and the soap gripper somewhat works, but is a bit funny looking. All in all, I give Dr. Squatch’s full line of products (Shave Kit and Candles aside), a solid 9/10. I’d highly recommend to you all the soaps, the cologne, the hair kit (probably better for thin natural hair), and their soap goodies. What’s your guy’s favorite soap scent? And any opinions on the shave kit, candles, colognes, etc.?

Alright. Here we go. Several months in the making.

Before we get started, please ask me any questions you might have if you need help, as I can and will answer all of them :)

I got really, really into soap a while ago, and apparently decided that it was a great idea to spend $200 and try every bar Squatch has to offer! I also wanted to write out a massive post like this to help any newcomers looking to buy some bars. I know I would’ve loved something like this when I was starting out.

There are a few I decided not to try though, as they smelled particularly bad to me. I will put a disclaimer on all of those reviews!

I will be sorting these alphabetically, and into two groups. Standard, and special edition.

Oh, and I’ll be adding to this list as new bars come out, or if I get any discontinued ones.

STANDARD:

Alpine Sage: Has a very “sharp” scent to it. Smells like lavander, citrus and grass. Definitely a clean sorta smell. However, for some reason it hurts my sinuses. Lather is pretty good and it lasts, but I can’t use it. Maybe a bit too strong. In my opinion, this is a 5/10. Would be much higher if it wasn’t painful. Spring smell. (Seaweed & Sea Salt from Crate 61 smells almost exactly like this one but much milder)

Bay Rum: First impressions of this soap are, well, besides the fact that it smells amazing (Cinnamon, apples, cloves and cream), it lathers SO. WELL. Scent lasts on my skin for hours. The only negative I can think of is that it does dry my skin more than other bars. Overall, 8/10. Autumn/winter smell.

Birchwood Breeze: It’s quite a sweet, fresh smell. It’s woodsy, but not musky like Pine Tar or WBB. Has hints of vanilla and citrus in there. The grit is very fine but still heavy. Dries the skin just a bit. Overall, 7/10. Spring/summer/winter smell.

Cedar Citrus: One of my favs for sure. Only downside is the smell is so light that you can’t smell it unless you’re either currently lathering or sticking your nose up to the bar. And the Citrus part of it is impossible to smell altogether. Regardless, I still love it. Easily one of the best lathers, and it makes my skin super soft. No dryness here. It would be a 10/10 if you were actually able to smell it. Overall, 7.5/10. Works for all seasons. (I have since bought a second bar and it smelled nothing like the original. So beware of that)

Coconut Castaway: Right off the bat, if you’re expecting a super coconutty coconut smell, this isn’t it. It definitely smells like coconut, but not exactly like it. I also have some Crate 61 soaps and their coconut bar is much more coconutty. This one has a sort of creamy vanilla smell to it, and the lather is blissful. The “grit” in this bar is just some coconut shavings and that’s perfect imo. Scent lasts, and it doesn’t dry my skin. Overall, 9/10. Spring/summer smell.

Cold Brew Cleanse: Mildewy coffee beans. (Not used)

Cool Fresh Aloe: Could be my favorite bar. Smells AMAZING. Not much of an “aloe” smell in there though. It’s very fresh, green, sweet, and creamy smelling. I didn’t like it at first but it made it’s way into my favorites after the first shower. The lather is one of the best that I’ve seen from Squatch and the smell sticks for hours. 10/10. Spring/summer smell.

Deep Sea Goats Milk: This one is very hard to describe. With a lot of the other ones, they smell like familiar things. Bay Rum smells like cinnamon, Coconut Castaway smells like coconut and vanilla, etc, but this one is odd. It’s creamy, sweet, bitter, salty, a little musky, somewhat herbal and a little earthy. The lather is far and away the best that Squatch offers! It also feels like it cleans my skin the best out of any of them, like it really grabs at the dirtiness. Not a strong smell, and doesn’t last, but I don’t think that’s what this one’s going for. 7.5/10! Works for all seasons.

Eucalyptus Greek Yogurt: Definitely a weird one. I feel like this is a love it or hate it kind of scent. Personally, I love it. Super earthy, green smell with a hint of menthol once lathered up. Has a similar vibe to Deep Sea Goats Milk. Lather is exceptional and SO moisturizing. Scent sadly doesn’t last. Other than that, it’s one of my favs. Autumn/spring/summer smell, 8/10.

Fresh Falls: Immediately the first thing that jumps out to me is how much this soap smells like the liquid kind. Like men’s Dove or something, but a little better. I like the smell, but it’s not very original. The lather is unimpressive. Barely even passes as a lather imo. However, it is easily one of the most nourishing, moisturizing bars! Lasts on the skin for a pretty long time. Overall, 8/10. Winter/spring/summer smell.

Gold Moss: A sweet, earthy scent. Smells exactly like Only Hope Soap. (Not used)

Grapefruit IPA: Smells just like a Grapefruit! No Beer smell here, thank god. One of my favorites. Smells amazing, is nourishing and has a great lather, but the scent doesn’t last. Nice and creamy citrus scent. Works for any season, 8/10.

Pine Tar: Very manly, slightly musky smelling soap. Very woodsy. Smells, well, like a pine tree. I feel like there’s a hint of ginger, too. Doesn’t last long on the skin after a shower though. The grit is far too heavy for my taste. Does smell good though. Overall, 7/10. Autumn/winter smell. (I would not recommend buying these from Walmart as the one I bought from them practically fell apart. The first one I bought was much better both scent, and quality-wise.)

Spearmint Basil: Spearmint toothpaste. (Not used)

Wood Barrel Bourbon: Ended up being a lot milder than expected! It seems to stay on my skin for a while. Scent-wise, it kinda smells like cologne. Sweet, though. Almost like there’s a hint of brown sugar in there. Reminds me of this huge candy shop at the mall I used to go to as a kid. Doesn’t lather as well as some others. The smell is good, but not something that I’d use. Grit feels like Pine Tar. Overall, 6.5/10. Autumn smell.

SPECIAL/LIMITED EDITION:

Area 51 Bricc: A very weird bar. It smells like a sweeter Jalapeño without the spice. A little bitter too. It’s quite a good smell, weirdly. It said no grit but there was definitely a bit of grit, but this grit wasn’t super intense. Lather was really good but the smell didn’t last long. 6.5/10 from me. Works for all seasons.

Batman Bricc: Has a similar vibe to Pine Tar, but MUCH stronger and muskier. Just like everyone else says, it’s like a strong scent of leather and a hint of cologne. Personally, not my thing. I think it’s too strong. Gave me a headache. But, I could definitely see it working well for other people. I have a sensitive nose, I’ve learned! The lather is insanely good, the smell lasts, and it doesn’t dry my skin, but it doesn’t really moisturize it either. Grit isn’t as heavy as some others. Overall, 4/10. Autumn smell.

Black Hole: Body Odor, but with hints of musk and berries. Would be astonishingly good without the Body Odor bit. Some people love this one though. The other people in my household don’t smell the BO at all! I’ve also seen someone describe it as “bad breath”. (Not used)

Dark Side Scrub: Smoke, and weirdly… meat? Like I do not get this one at all. Fuck, it’s weird. Not a fan. (Not used)

Freedom Fresh: Sweet clay. (Not used)

Mars Bar: Smells like Christmas in a supermarket. A lot of people seem to describe it as Big Red gum too. Lather is great, but it is crazy strong. Probably the strongest I’ve tried. Personally, not a my thing, but I know it’s a fan favorite. 5/10. Autumn/winter scent!

Moon Rock: Smells quite fruity! Took me a while to really put my finger on the scent, but I’ve figured it out. It smells like Rainbow Dippin’ Dots. Easily a top 5 scent for me however, the grit is way too heavy (literally scraped and broke my skin in multiple places) and the scent sadly doesn’t last very long at all. The lather is quite good though. 7/10. Winter/spring/summer smell.

Only Hope Soap: Smells like Gold Moss. Definitely not for me. Sweet, earthy vanilla but you guessed it, it gave me headache. Lather is fine and the smell lasts a decent amount of time. I’ve heard that other people like it though. 3/10, works for all seasons.

Riddler Enigma: Smells like a very sweet green apple, but creamy! It’s quite strong, one of the strongest bars. A little too strong for my taste. Has a great lather and stays on the skin for a long time. Dries my skin just a little bit, but not as bad as Bay Rum. I like it! Overall, 7/10. Spring/summer smell.

Ruthless Rinse: Smells like pepper, spice, spice, and more pepper. Also some spice. Jesus this thing was strong and spicy! Like Bay Rum on overdrive! Lather was nice (and bright red), but the scent didn’t last. Did not like this one as it was way too strong. Had it been more subtle, would’ve loved it. 6/10. Autumn smell.

Wisdom Wash: Lemony, herbal and sharp. Similar vibe to Alpine Sage. (Not used)
