By F is for Family Netflix animated series "F is for Family" takes another shot at Syracuse in season 2. (Video still) Netflix series "F is for Family" is firing shots at Syracuse again. Season 2 of the animated comedy for adults is out now on the streaming service and includes another dig from an airport baggage handler named Rosie (voiced by Syracuse University alumnus Kevin Michael Richardson of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "The Cleveland Show" fame). "Just smile and act like Syracuse ain't a f---ing s--thole," he tells two co-workers in the second episode of the new season. The series, co-created by Bill Burr, stars the stand-up comedian as the voice of Frank Murphy, an airport employee with a dysfunctional family in 1970s Pennsylvania. The irreverent cartoon, produced by Vince Vaughn and former "A Christmas Story" star Peter Billingsley, also features Justin Long as Frank's son Kevin, Laura Dern as his wife Sue, and Sam Rockwell as their neighbor Vic. The show also featured expletive-laden references to Central New York in the first season in 2015. "Syracuse, New York! Jewel of the Hudson Valley!" Rosie says when a pair of Mohican Airways airline passengers tell him where they're headed. Then when the couple gives him a quarter for a tip, Rosie makes a nasty comment as he checks in their luggage. "Cheap a-- Syracuse motherf---ers," he grumbles. "Hope your plane gets hijacked." "F is for Family" co-creator and showrunner Michael Price defended the joke on Twitter. "It was just about 2 people, not the whole city... unless you're claiming that everyone in Syracuse is cheap," he tweeted. "And they were just visiting Syracuse!" Price suggested the latest ribbing was good-natured as well. "We like Syracuse! But Rosie tho..." Price wrote on Twitter. Burr also complained that people are too sensitive in an interview with Stephen Colbert on Friday. "I don't even think I'm mad," the comedian told "The Late Show" host of his "rage-fueled" humor. "I'm just old. This is how people used to talk." Burr added that standup comedy is different now because people might get offended. "People were, like, groaning in the crowd at jokes," Burr said. "I'll tell you what happened. There's an M&Ms store in Times Square now and that just kind of affected everybody... and now everything is just like, 'Oh my God! Oh my God!' You gotta, like, walk them through the joke." If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation. Frank: I'm putting you in charge of your sister today. You got that? — F is for Family, trailer F is for Family is a Netflix original animated sitcom created by comedian Bill Burr along with Michael Price, best known for his work on The Simpsons. The series stars Burr as foul-mouthed patriarch Frank Murphy, and is a semi-autobiographical story of his own childhood. The rest of the Murphy clan include Frank's wife, Only Sane Woman Sue; Dumbass Teenage Son Kevin; Middle Child Syndrome Bill; Bratty Half-Pint Maureen; and an old dog named Major. The show takes place during 1973-1974 — when TV dinners seemed like space-age technology, boxing was the greatest thing on television, and kids would ride their bikes behind mosquito trucks and play in the sweet-smelling pesticide clouds. While this may seem idyllic, the neighborhood that the Murphy family live in is anything but, filled with prejudices and problems that father and protagonist Frank must deal with day after day. As much as the series is an examination of the 70's, much of it is also a harsh criticism of the time, pointing out the social flaws found in the culture of the time period. The show follows the Murphys through typical Dom Com conflicts peppered with profanity and the occasional graphic nudity. One main difference between F is for Family and traditional animated sitcoms, however, is that there is no Reset Button: Conflicts pile up over the show's episodes with disastrous results. Comparisons in style and tone can be drawn with BoJack Horseman, another Netflix original series. The series premiered on Netflix on December 18, 2015. A second season was later released on May 30, 2017. A third season was released on November 30, 2018. Season 4 was released on June 12th, 2020. A fifth and final season was released on November 25th, 2021, concluding the show at 44 episodes. F is for Family contains examples of:
