Where can we watch Frozen 2?

The film itself doesn’t hit that sweet spot that makes Pixar animations, for example, fun for adults as well as their children. Its pace is uneven and in the early scenes, the songs slow down the action so much that the younger kids at my screening were getting restless. But judging from those US box-office figures, there’s more than enough here to build on the goodwill generated by the original and create a besotted new audience.

Disney has surprised subscribers by dropping Frozen 2 on its streaming service a full three months before its intended release date. The outrageously popular animated musical released on Disney Plus Tuesday 17 March 2020 so you can start streaming now or sign up to the service's free 7-day trial if you're not already subscribed.

The musical that's catchier than the common cold is also available for digital purchase through the usual suspects; iTunes, Google Play, Microsoft Store and YouTube Movies all have Frozen 2 available for rent or purchase in SD and HD.

Now, if only we could get Walt to do the same for The Rise of Skywalker.

How to watch Frozen 2 online

In Australia, Frozen 2 is now available to stream on Disney Plus,  iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, and Microsoft Store. However, it's only available in 4K/UHD on the Microsoft Store and Disney Plus.

At the time of writing, there are no extras available with the Disney Plus version but a HD iTunes purchase will get you a couple of bonus features, including a featurette on the Scandanavian influence of the movies' mythology, a sing-a-long version, outatakes, deleted scenes and songs, and exclusive cast interviews.

Disney Plus might not have the added extras, but it does offer the first Frozen and short films, Olaf's Frozen Adventure, Frozen Fever and  LEGO Frozen: Northern Lights all for the single monthly cost of $8.99 per month or $89.99 per year.

What other Frozen content is available to stream?

Besides the digital extras available through iTunes and Google Play, Disney Plus is home to a good deal of Frozen content.

First of all, it's got the 2013 original film, a short film starring the snowy sidekick Olaf (Olaf's Frozen Adventure), Frozen Fever (a Pixar short where Elsa tries to organise Anna's birthday with disastrous results), LEGO Frozen: Northern Lights and a sled-load of extras attached to the original Frozen.

Disney Plus costs $8.99 per month or $89.99 per year if you want to kick up your feet and let it go for an hour or two.

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? What truths about the past await Elsa as she ventures into the unknown to the enchanted forests and dark seas beyond Arendelle? The answers are calling her but also threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she'll face a dangerous but remarkable journey. In Frozen, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.

Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf head far into the forest to learn the truth about an ancient mystery of their kingdom.
