UPS drug test policy 2022 Reddit

I start today as a package handler but my higher ups know I am a driver and have experience and I told them I want to drive. They told me to go get my class c non cdl permit so I can get started, which I did. Should I wait to be clean before I sign up to drive? Or will they not care about it? I’m in Illinois where recreation and medical marijuana is legal. My friends told me they don’t care but I want to be sure by asking others in the company. I know there is a DOT physical but my friend says the urine test is for proteins. Not to sure. Thanks

I'm assuming that isn't true, but if by some miracle it is, could you clarify this for me? I'm currently in Amazon DSP driver and it's absolutely horrible for reasons that have nothing to do with the type of work it is.

Unfortunately, I self-medicate for the anxiety caused by this job by smoking, so I'm not sure how I could just stop for a couple months to piss clean unless I got on some other anxiety meds which I would then have to disclose to my DSP and get fired.

As of 2022, does UPS require drug testing for part-time package handlers? I just accepted a part-time package handler position at a Kansas location, and my first day is next Wednesday.

I'm currently attending Oklahoma State, so for part of the year I live in Oklahoma. I have my medical card and smoke weed fairly regularly. Will I be tested when I go in for work?

There's a bunch of people at my location who do that.

The only people I know of who got fired came in 1.5 hours late, then got caught toking up inside behind a truck. Otherwise, it's basically "nobody cares what you do on your own time".

Reasons for drug tests:

  1. Reasonable cause - 2 management employees trained in observing behavior or appearances must have reason to believe you're on drugs and notify the union.

  2. You were in an accident and:

A. There was a fatality B. There is a citation and someone needs medical treatment right away C. There is a citation and a vehicle has to be towed

3. If you're part of the substance abuse program when you return they can do random tests.

4. If you get your CDL in feeder (pre qualifications and ransoms after).

There is no pre-qualification test for package or ransoms.

If you have a Class A (CDL) you must be administered at minimum the standard five panel drug screen (which includes marijuana) pre-employment, post accident if it resulted in (a death, serious bodily injury, vehicle disabling damage) return to work, follow up to a previous positive test where a fitness for duty treatment program was provided, random (must comply with whether or not you are on-duty when the random was generated. In addition, all employers of CDL (Class A) drivers must provide drug test records of current/former employees AND applicants when another employer requests it as part of their pre-employment applicant screening. In other words, your drug test records go with you from one company to another. Employers are mandated to obtain those records prior to hiring a driver. Since the federal DOT enacted these regulations it's basically impossible to use illegal drugs recreationally for professional truck drivers. (Personality, I believe it categorically violates an individual's constitutional rights under the fourth amendment. But our current supreme court most likely hasn't ever bothered to read it considering their recent ruling.

Only ones to get drug screened are feeder drivers per DoT regulations.

Package car drivers are required if there is a fatality involved in a accident.

You can get tested if management is suspicious and they use a additional supervisor trained in noticing influenced employees at the work place.

Lol ok bro thank you. So not even after the training or anything? And if you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been working there for? You don’t have to answer that just curious.

level 1

No, there is no drug testing for package handlers. Just don't show up for work under the influence, and you'll be fine.

level 2

This is correct. NO DRUG TESTING FOR PACKAGE HANDLER POSITIONS

You can snort Coke on break for all they care. As long as you show up on time and get everything thrown in the truck by 9 💀

level 1

3 years in never been tested

One of our drivers got arrested for beating his ex wife, went to prison, and got his job back. Drugs are the least of their worries.

Is this for every state? What about CT?

Even if they drug test you and you’re dirty for weed they just make a note in your file and you can’t work on an international load until you get a clean one.

I’m not quite sure what you mean here. The only way a package handler can get drug tested is if they appear under the influence while on the job. Secondly, if you piss dirty you WILL lose your job. Period. The only time I have seen someone get their job back from a drug situation is if the employee goes to management first, and admits to having a “problem” I have never heard of an international load. And you most certainly do not get to piss until you get a clean test. No note in your file. You will be terminated.

Does USPS use a 5 panel drug test?

They do a urine test - it is an E-Cup EScreen 5 panel drug test (I have heard they do 10 panel as well but mine was a 5). When I scheduled my drug test USPS allowed me 6 days to go take the drug test. Its a urine test called an "ecup" non DOT for most positions.

What kind of drug test does Costco use 2022?

Costco mainly uses mouth swab drug tests as they are fast and effective. Urine tests are rarely used unless there is an issue with the mouth swab test. Saliva tests take up to ten minutes, and drugs remain detectable for up to 48 hours after a swab test, hence quite effective.
