Just last week, I explained why Red Dead Redemption 2 has stuck with me almost three years since its release. It was a near-perfect experience for me and one I’ll never forget. And given its reception at launch and continued popularity, I’m sure I’m not the only one. But it came out in 2018. There’s an entirely new console generation. And a Red Dead Redemption 24K 60fps update is needed to fully exploit the power of PS5 and Xbox Series X. Upgrades for the ninth console generation are nothing new. Lots of games have already received that treatment and many will in future. However, an update for Red Dead Redemption 2 has so far eluded us and fans are desperate for it. In addition, it’s widely regarded as a technical masterpiece and gamers want to experience it at its absolute best. So, how likely are we to receive a Red Dead Redemption 2 4K 60fps upgrade? Is Red Dead Redemption 2 4K 60fps on PS5?You may have hoped that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S would be able to run RDR2 at 60fps. But they don’t. The game is locked at 30fps on these consoles, just as it was on PS4 and Xbox One. Moreover – that isn’t something that can be changed instantly. A significant patch or re-release would be required to introduce the increased frame rate. Lastly, the PS5 runs Red Dead Redemption 2 at 1920x2160p resolution which is what the PS4 Pro was capable of. Xbox Series X gets 3840x2160p resolution.  Will RDR2 get a PS5 upgrade?So, you’re probably wondering if Red Dead Redemption 2 will even get a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrade. Well, it’s not guaranteed. Unfortunately, Rockstar are yet to say anything about it and are hard at work on the next-gen port for GTA V. They’re also rumoured to be working on remastered versions of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas. That means a RDR2 PS5 upgrade and an RDR2 Xbox Series X upgrade are likely quite far down on their list of priorities. RDR2 4K 60fps release dateWhen it comes to a Red Dead Redemption 2 4K 60fps release date, we simply don’t know! No one does. Rockstar are staying tight-lipped about whether it’ll even happen, let alone when it’ll arrive. But that doesn’t stop us from having a guess. Given the current work on the Grand Theft Auto series which I’ve outlined above, it’s extremely unlikely it’ll be this year. Hell, 2022 isn’t looking too promising for an RDR2 PS5 update either but realistically it’s probably the earliest we can expect it.
