Lakeview Loan Servicing data breach Reddit

Just and FYI to anyone who has a mortgage with Lake View Loan Servicing. I JUST received a letter today (April 5th) about a data breach that occurred between the date of October 2021 and December 2021. This breach included things like name, address, loan numbers, and worst of all social security numbers. Lake View has said they have known about this since early December 2021, and they're just now notifying the 2.5 million people that have been affected.

It appears that there are a couple class action lawsuits filed already. Lake View stated in their letter that they are offering a complimentary 1-year subscription to credit monitoring services. I feel like this is definitely not enough, and completely unacceptable. Now that my social security number has been compromised, who's to say that I couldn't suffer future identity issues 5 years down the road.

Does anyone have any advice on this? I'm definitely keeping track of the lawsuits. It appears I don't have to do anything to be a part of them from what I read.

We're also in the process of selling our house, so we won't be with lake View much longer. I'm assuming that we would still be entitled to compensation even after we sold and paid our mortgage off.

They apologize for any inconvenience and are offering 1 year free Kroll Credit Monitoring. An unauthorized person obtained access to files on their file storage servers from October 27, 2021 to December 7, 2021.

During this timeframe, someone stole my identity, spammed the hell out of my emails in hopes of burying confirmation emails for opening a store credit card and an auto loan.

It took months to get the store credit card and auto loan off my credit. The bureaus were most reluctant to remove the credit inquiries even though they removed the store credit card and auto loan.

I've already done all the work to get this cleaned up, as well as frozen my credit, and now Lakeview Loan Servicing comes along in April 2022 and offers 1 year of credit monitoring. I've already dealt with the hassle of cleaning up my credit.

Thanks a lot, Lakeview Loan Servicing. In these cases, it appears that they meet with attorneys to protect themselves from legal liability rather than reaching out and actually helping consumers.

I just bought my first home as new construction from DR Horton using their lender for closing credits. I knew I would be sold at some point but I assumed it would be to a large lender like BOA or WF. I made my first payment last month to DHI Mortgage and this month I received the letter that I've been sold to Lakeview Loan Servicing. Google results and customer reviews are terrible. More than one customer are saying they will refi at a higher rate just to be out from under Lakeview. Others note falsely reported late payments. Several are claiming they have reported to BBB. What are my options? Is it early enough to call my current lender and complain? If it matters: FHA 4.75 30year fixed. If I've made some mistakes here please be polite when making me aware. Thanks.

Found the internet!

Tried to pay my mortgage this morning… tried again just now. Still can’t get in. Never happened before. 4th largest loan servicer in the country. Wondering if other apes were locked out today too? I know BOA was down nationwide. Wondering if it’s just me, if others using this service are also locked out…. Could it be connected to BOA outage???

I’m up to 3 holes in my underwear.

A power outage here, system failure there…
