You can't. The decision you make in the Deep Roads quest where you choose to make her come with you to with those drawf brothers; either decision; she will leave your party.

SPOILERS

Don't pick mage as your starting class, leave her behind when you go on the deep roads expedition, and she'll be back in your group at the very end.

Or heard you can bring anders with her to deep roads and she survives but still has to leave somehow.

The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time.

I finished the game as a warrior, so no need holding back on the spoiler
im playing mage now, and I want to save bethany even if she leaves the group as long as shes alive, to hell with carver

Bethany can't survive the prologue if you start out as a mage. Carver will suffer the same fate as her midgame. Either he leaves the party, dies in the cave or is given to the wardens.

She will leave one way or the other. Theres 3 different possibilities.

1. You bring her on the deep roads. If you have Anders with you she will become a Grey Warden and leave until the near end of the game.

2. You bring her on the deep roads. Without Anders, she dies.

3. You leave her out of the Deep Roads. Templars take her to the circle and she stays there until the near end of the game.

Forgot if your playing as a mage she dies, period. Hated that too because Carver is a bit of a jerk. I really don't like him, but anyways, same situation for him except number 3. You don't take him with you he will join the Templars.

yeah she died I was playing as a mage, im gonna re-start and go with rogue..
I rather see her become a warden. thanks guys

I believe that in scenario 3, for her to show back up, you have to side with the mages (if it's Carver, you have to side with the Templars). If either of them becomes a Grey Warden, they will return regardless.

Progloue - you = mage get carver. you= warrior or roguwe = get bethany. friendship/rivalry almost useless for them as during the end of act 1 they are leaving either way. Not including in active party for dr = preset joins x (templar,mages). Including no anders = pull an aeris. Including + anders = option for gw.

All of which have minor quests/involvments later on.

Will Bethany return Dragon Age 2?

No, you cannot keep Bethany in your party. She will always leave. However, you can determine her fate. If you are a warrior or rogue, do not take her with you at the end of Act 1 unless you also bring Anders.

Can you save both Carver and Bethany?

You can keep Bethany and Carver alive, Hawke just has to die then you watch the rest of the game play out as a series of cutscenes...just like Final Fantasy!

What happens if you dont take Bethany?

If left behind during the Deep Roads Expedition, Bethany will be cast off into the Circle. If she joins the Deep Roads Expedition, she will manifest the symptoms of the Taint, the results of which are grave. Unless Anders is present in the party, there is nothing you can do to help her.

Should Bethany join the Circle or the wardens?

Generally, I think Bethany is better going to the Circle and (mild spoiler) Carver is better going to the Wardens. I think they're both generally happier in those routes than the other options... particularly one other option. In my playthroughs so far, I'd done the opposite.
