How Long Does the Invisible Glow in the Dark Paint Glow For?

Under regular lighting in a typical interior room, the afterglow will be visible to the eye for hours after being charged with light! This is a high quality paint that holds a glow charge for a extremely long time (unlike many other glow in the dark paints and products sold in stores). Depending on how long you charge up this invisible glow in the dark paint with light, and how bright of a light you use, generally the paint will glow the brightest for about the first 30 minutes after the lights go off, then will continue visibly glowing for several more hours.

The high quality glow in the dark pigment used is scientifically measured to glow for up to 100 hours more more on a single charge in ideal circumstances! Can be recharged an infinite number of times using any source of regular light. Safe and not hazardous or toxic.

Tips and Instructions for Use:

You can apply multiple layers to increase the effect. This paint can be applied to nearly any surface. Painting onto white or light colored surfaces is ideal, but not required, because it increases the charging and amplifies the glowing effect. The paint dries to a hard, clear, water-resistant finish that is nearly invisible. Thick applications or multiple layers may appear slightly whitish. Before drying, the paint is a white color (or yellow-greenish if it has been charged with light).

For the maximum effect, spray onto a white or light colored surface. Can also be brushed or applied in any other method you would normally apply paint. Apply as a separate top coat, do not mix with other paints or products. For the brightest and longest afterglow charge, you can use a direct, bright light, but the paint works great and holds a long afterglow charge off of regular interior room lighting as well.

Do not ingest. Not sold for use on or in the body. This product is non-toxic and not hazardous, but should not be used by unsupervised children.

We used it for a solar system model setup and it's perfect It paints on practically clear but then when left in any legitimate UV light for even a few moments it glows intensely so much so that it actually casts a shadow, really impressed with the performance of this stuff! Highly recommend

When I was a kid, I loved and collected everything that glows in the dark. Why did it take me until deep into adulthood to find this paint? It's awesome! On the very first night, I painted all the light switches, my alarm clock buttons, my backpack zippers, and my son's bunkbed ladder rungs, plus I painted a stripe on my glasses, I painted "Hi!" on the toilet seat and put a spot on our bearded dragon's back (probably not advised). So fun!

How bright does it glow and how long does it last you may ask? Well, it reminds me a lot of the toys I had as a kid. If you keep them under bright light for quite a while, they will glow for a long time (and it has to be pretty dark before you can see it). If I read for a bit before bed and all my glow-painted stuff is there soaking up the light, they will glow at least 6 hours, probably more.

So -- this paint is awesome, and though it's not a huge jar, you don't need a lot. It dries clear (though not invisible -- it's glossy). And you can't expect miracles if you don't do what you need to do: Put the item in bright light, as long as possible, and then view the item in as dark a place as possible. It will work!

Ok, so I was initially surprised to see how little 1oz really is and had to rethink my painting project since I assumed I would now get less coverage. This jar is smaller than a small size jar of baby food for reference. Sure, it says 1oz, but you really need a visual.

After figuring I had too little paint, we moved on to painting our outdoor glow in the dark rocks (camping trip craft). We actually had enough paint in the small jar for all of the rocks in the jar (about 24 small rocks).

As for the glow factor, it doesn't glow as bright as the picture (I wasn't expecting it to), but the kids were impressed and pleased nonetheless. The description is correct in stating that the paint reacts better when exposed to sunlight than indoor light. You will get a brighter glow.

Lastly, we also received a little keychain black light which the kids enjoyed shining on various things including the rocks. Fun all around.

It certainly works. I used a UV light to charge this, and it glows very well. But, given the crystal nature of it, it is rough, and after a few coats is definitely visible as far as texture goes, and it makes it difficult to get a smooth glow. You can see in my image that it is speckled, even where I put 7 coats, on the TV.

I bought this paint to apply to the hands of a bedroom wall clock. I wanted something I could see in the middle of the night.

As other users have noted, the paint has a grainy quality. It doesn't brush on smoothly. It took some time and patience to lay down the four or five coats I needed to give an even, bright glow. I expected this and was willing to work with it. It adhered well to the painted metal clock hands.

The result is spectacular. Though the number of layers required did create a buildup, it's lightweight and not so thick that it interferes with the clock movement. The clock gets no direct sunlight, but the glow-hands are amply charged by regular electric light in the room, and sometimes I hit them with the included keychain black-light before bed for an extra-glowy glow. The paint stays bright enough to distinguish in the dark most of the night, and they look fantastic.

By the way, the glow-in-the-dark color is a pale, eerie kind of blue, more "ghost" than "rave". Just what I wanted.

So I've tested several of these paints, and they are all close to each other in terms of initial brightness and brightness + afterglow length. This MX24 paint ranked 3rd because after several hours, it was a little bit dimmer than 2 other brands.

Certainly not a bad paint, you cannot go wrong with it. I will use it after my "best" ones are used-up before buying more.

Very sheer. Needs several coats with sanding between to do what it says it does. If you have the time and patience for a project its ok.
