Mods are a great way to enhance your single player GTA V experience, but they do carry some risks. Use this guide to make sure your GTA V modding is as safe as possible, both for your computer and your GTA Online account - and note that it applies to story mode/single player mods only! First, before you download any mods, you should take steps to protect yourself from malware. Your computer should be protected by anti-virus and anti-malware software to scan files you download.

Mods from Nexusmods.com and GTA5-Mods.com are among the safest, because the websites scan for malware as the mods are uploaded. Still, no matter where you download a mod from, look through the comments to make sure other players aren't reporting issues.

Malware is possible mainly in .asi and .dll mods, so be especially careful when downloaded these.

Basic Modding Tools

Next, there are a few modding tools you should have on hand:

Script Hook V lets you use custom scripts. Many script mods for GTA V depend on you having Script Hook V. Custom scripts will be disable when you enter GTA Online.
OpenIV is a tool to modify rpf files. A new feature also allows you to place all of your mods in a separate folder away from your base game. If you keep your mods in a folder within the directory, you can edit them without concern.
Similarly, GTA V Mod Manager creates a separate folder for mods and also gives you options to ensure mods are disabled when you go online.

Keeping Mods Out of GTA Online

Rockstar has no issue with users modding their single player GTA V games, but it doesn't want mods used in GTA Online. Therefore, if you want to play GTA Online, you need the ability to turn your mods off.

As indicated above, modding tools have features built in to help you with this.

Mod Manager can be used to launch a modded rpf file while keeping the original safe. It will make sure the Rockstar Social Club is offline, as well, and you can turn specific mods on or off. These features are especially useful if you are used modded files that the game might try to "fix" if you are online. To legitimately mod cars, players need to buy them and bring them to Los Santos Customs. To get a fully modded vehicle, you might need multiple millions on top of the cost of the car.

These below five cars are also the rarest modded cars in GTA 5, as not many people have purchased them yet.

1. Comet S2

The ZR350, formerly known as ZR-350, is a two-door sports car featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It comes back to GTA Online as part of the Los Santos Tuners update. Back in the day, Annis ZR350 powerful performance is considered the best San Andreas has to offer.

Like other modded vehicles on this list, the ZR 350 has a lot of customization options alongside great acceleration and speed. Furthermore, it is also pretty damage-resistant.

5. Calico GTF

One of the most expensive cars in the Tuners update. The Karin Calico GTF has over 100 customization options for players to explore. Performance-wise, the Calico has phenomenal top speed and acceleration.

When fully upgraded, it can keep up with most supercars in terms of straight lines and handling capabilities. Furthermore, it has great traction on wet surfaces, which is ideal in rainy races.
