Preparing for dentures in four simple stepsEvery patient’s journey is different. Here are the key steps to remember. 1. ImpressionsTo start the process, your Doctor makes a model of your mouth. This may involve pre-sized trays, or for replacement full dentures, the doctor may choose your existing dentures as a custom fitted tray. 2. Bite registrationThe Doctor will ask you to bite into wax blocks and take measurements so that your new teeth are placed correctly in the denture. This makes certain your jaw will function as it always has with your new teeth. 3. Wax try-inThis is a preview of your new teeth set in wax, before final processing of your denture. Your Doctor will ensure the proper function of the denture, and together you will check that the size, shape, and position of the teeth look natural to you. 4. InsertIf extractions are needed, a complete or partial denture will be placed in your mouth the same day your natural teeth are removed. Your dentures may also need to be rebased—your Aspen Dental practice can do that, too. Dentists at Aspen Dental practices recommend replacing your dentures every 5-7 years.
How long does it take to get dentures after impressions? After your mouth heals, your Denturist will take impressions of your mouth, design the dentures, have you try them on, and then finally give you the completed dentures. The process to construct a complete denture takes 3 to 4 weeks, and 4 to 5 weeks for a partial denture.
Can dentures be made in one day?Immediate dentures, unlike regular dentures, are made before tooth extraction. With immediate dentures, you never have to leave the dental office without teeth. That's because immediate dentures, as the name suggests, allow for extractions and dentures in the same day.
