Many fans want former hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews to return to the show. Tyra, meanwhile, has responded to some of the negative feedback she’s received, and asks viewers to give her a chance. Tyra Banks Responds To ‘DWTS’ CriticismWhen the season first started, Tyra told People magazine that she had no intention of shaking up the show’s existing format. Instead, she said she wanted to simply “add a little pixie dust” to the show. RELATED: WHO’S THE BEST ‘AGT’ HOST? TERRY CREWS, TYRA OR NICK? “Dancing with the Stars is one of the biggest shows on TV, with a huge audience, and I really respect that,” she said. “I can’t come in with a battering ram and try to change everything. That would be a bad business decision and dumb leadership. So I’m not doing that.” “Mom & Dad pleeease come back! We miss you. The new nanny sucks,” one fan posted on Twitter during Tyra’s second show. Other viewers criticized her for asking “stupid questions” and making it all about her instead of the contestants. Tyra has acknowledged that her hosting wasn’t perfect in the second week of the show. “Tonight I hosted the second episode of Dancing with the Stars … and yeah, it wasn’t perfect,” she said in a TikTok video. “Yeah, I had a lot of fun. But I messed up, I said the wrong words. But the thing is, I kept going.” The supermodel also told Us Weekly that she can read a prompter “perfectly,” but likes to “skip around” and “keep things real.” She added, “If I didn’t want to mess up, if I wanted to be perfect, I know how to do that … It’s better than being like a doll.” Tyra Responds To Claims She Was Hired For DiversityEven before the new season started, some fans claimed Tyra was only hired to host Dancing with the Stars because she’s a Black woman, and the show wanted to add diversity. Tyra told Glamour she was bothered by this assumption. And it was something that I had to think about for a while because I knew that there’s a lot of responsibility coming in to an institution.” Even Tom Bergeron responded to these claims on Twitter, writing, “Hadn’t planned to say any more about my departure yet but, as a supporter of the @Blklivesmatter movement, I can assure you that wasn’t the reason.” Tyra told Glamour of viewers who are skeptical about her performance, “I hope they say, ‘You know what, I’m going to stick with this.’ Like, ‘Wow…I was wrong about that.'” If social media is anything go by, fans still don’t seem to like Tyra Banks as the co-host for Dancing With the Stars. The former America’s Next Top Model host serves as co-host for Dancing With the Stars alongside Alfonso Ribiero. However, Banks has received criticism from viewers for her mistakes on live television. In a recent episode of the ABC reality competition series, Banks earned ire from viewers for referring to Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov as a "beautiful male couple" instead of a "married couple."
