This book shipped really fast! I purchased this edition to prevent spending around 200 dollars for the new addition. I took a chance on this book and I am so happy that I did. I am in midterm and the information in this earlier eddition has my grade at an A. The chapters maybe mixed up and there is a few information missing that you can find on the web. I wrote my paper on Mill's Theory and I earned 200 points out of a possible 200 points. Mill's theory is Mills theory, regardless if you spend 10 bucks to read about it or around 200 bucks. Although, you do feel better when you spend only 10.

our instructor used the text as a starting point for classroom discussion in most chapters. At times he had us read additional material outside the text when he wanted to emphasize certain subject issues. Overall the text was too wordy and in some instances it seemed as if the material was doubling back on itself and was difficult to follow.
It is my understanding that Cuyahoga County College will be using a different text for this course in the future, therefore I would be interested in purchasing this text at a 50% reduction rather than to retun it. Please advise.

The description of the book was listed as good quality but it is actually in near perfect condition. I received the book in a well timed manner and there is minimal to no marks inside. I am extremely satisfied with this order!

The book that I ordered, Ethics Theory and Contemporary Issues was in mint condition, and was received promptly. I have no complaint from the seller. Everything went as expected. At first I thought that the book was late in arriving, but the problem was that the book had been delivered in the wrong place of my property, and this was not the seller's fault.

Make sure your professor wants you to purchase this OR the non-concised version. I ran into this problem, and ended up having to get both because in the beginning of the semester the Bookstore only told me "Ethics: Theory and Contemporary Issues" just watch out. Clarify before you buy.

I got this book for a ethics class that I took, the first part is a tough read, but over all it was what I expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great resource

This is an excellent introductory book to ethics, split into two parts that cover theoretical and practical applications of morality. I have been using it to gain background knowledge and plan a college ethics class for which has proved to be an invaluable resource. My only criticism might be the selection of theory-based readings. I find that Plato, Hobbes, Nietzsche, etc are rather abstract for my students. I realize they are foundational texts but nonetheless they are difficult to relate to in discussion.

Summary

Closely examine the major areas of ethical theory as well as a broad range of contemporary moral debates using MacKinnon's acclaimed ETHICS: THEORY AND CONTEMPORARY ISSUES, Sixth Edition. Recognized for its breadth of coverage, this book provides a superbly balanced introduction that effectively integrates ethical theory with today's most relevant moral issues. Illuminating overviews and a selection of readings from both traditional and contemporary sources make even complex philosophical concepts reader friendly. Comprehensive, clear-sighted introductions to general and specific areas of ethical debate cover major ethical theories, including feminist ethics and ethical relativism, before delving into issues ranging from euthanasia and sexual morality to war and professional ethics. New readings from prominent ethicists help increase this edition's coverage of contemporary dilemmas with widespread impact, including torture and the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, "partial birth" abortion, cloning, same-sex marriage, and Wikipedia and Google.
