Unfortunately, the Dead by Daylight version mismatch error is a new bug that is preventing some players from queuing or connecting with their friends. Seasoned Dead by Daylight players are well acquainted with post-patch issues, but there is nothing worse than not being able to play the game altogether. As the name of the error suggests, the likely cause of the version mismatch bug is not all players having the most up to date patch.

As this error usually plagues players after a recent patch, we can infer that the different platforms release the update at varying times, or there could be an unintended difference between different platforms’ patches that registers as a different, incompatible version.

Dead by Daylight players have been experiencing the version mismatch error dating back to 2018 and earlier, so unfortunately this is nothing new and it is likely to keep happening in the future with new content updates.

The bad news is that there isn’t really anything you can do to fix the Dead by Daylight version mismatch error other than wait. The best-case scenario is that you have received the patch a little early and just need to sit and wait for everyone else to catch up or download it, but it is more likely a wider issue that Behaviour Interactive themselves have to deal with.

Is The Dead By Daylight Version Mismatch Error Getting Fixed? (August 11, 2022)

Unfortunately, with the recent Ghost Month update that has gone live on August 11, 2022, players have been hit with this bug and also the dreaded Dead by Daylight initialisation error, so both are likely to be merged into the one fix.

As of this current time, Behaviour Interactive haven't communicated any information regarding either the Dead by Daylight version mismatch error, or the initialization error, but it is likely that they will both be fixed soon.
