'How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord' may not be among the most well-received anime adaptations out there. However, it did not stop the isekai-harem anime from producing season 2, which, unfortunately, still didn't perform any better.

'How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord' follows the adventure of a timid gamer who gets transported into the world of his favorite game and accidentally turned two girls into his slaves. Together, they traverse through the dangerous new world while trying to find a way to free the girls from slavery.

In terms of ratings, 'How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord' is not among those highly-praised animes. The first season only secured a 6.90 rating on MyAnimeList, while the second season rated 6.73. However, the anime's ratings might be the least of the concerns of the creators since they still gave season 2 a go despite season 1's performance. What Is The Plot Of 'How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord' Season 3?

The anime follows Takuma Sakamoto, a hikikomori gamer who gets transported into his favorite MMORPG virtual world, Cross Reverie, after the pantherian Rem and the elf Shera summoned him. He assumes the appearance of his avatar in the game, the Demon Lord Diablo. Rem and Shera attempt to use a spell to make Takuma their servant. However, Takuma possesses a magic ring that allows him to rebound the spells cast against him. As a result, both Rem and Shera fell victims to their spell and became Takuma's servants instead. Armed with high stats and his knowledge of Cross Reverie's lore, Takuma tries to survive and navigate the new environment along with Rem and Shera. He tries to find a way to free them from their curse and help them with the problems that led them to summon him in the beginning.

It is predicted that the second season will end on the sixth volume of the light novel series. The ending of Volume 6 of the LN series sees Diablo following Lumachina to the Royal Capital to reform the corrupted Church.

The third season will likely jump off with an adaptation from the seventh volume of the LN series. Volume 7 commences with a new story arc focused on Shera.

Azumi Waki as Rem, the other summoner who wants to destroy the Demon King Krebsklum. It was later revealed that the Demon King is sealed in her body and will be released if she dies.

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, which is in the comedy and fantasy genre and includes harem elements, was one of the successful adaptations of 2018. In MMORPG Cross Reverie, Sakamoto Takuma boasted that he had enough overwhelming power to have other players call him the Demon King. One day, he was summoned to another world by his appearance in the game. There were two girls here who insisted “I am the true summoning master.”. Takuma eats the slave transformation spell used by the girls to summon monsters on himself. However, the strange ability “Magic Reflection” activates! It is the girls who become slaves!

Takuma is surprised. He was the strongest mage but had no social skills. The first words that came out of his mouth in panic were that he played the role of the Demon King in the game. “You say I’m great? Of course. I am Diablo… the one feared as the Demon King!”

The anime’s second season concluded on June 11, 2021. Hovewer, as of July 30, 2022, Tezuka Productions, who co-animated the season, Okuruto Noboru, or light novel publisher Kodansha has not yet renewed the anime for a third season. The second season of the anime was announced about two years after the first season began airing. Published by the famous manga publisher Kodansha, the light novel began publishing on December 2, 2014. The light novel, which has been published in 14 volumes in total, is still being published. It’s good news that the light novel is still in progress as the anime is also a commercial for it. So how much of the light novel has been adapted into anime? Fortunately, the first 8 volumes of the light novel have been adapted in the first two seasons of the anime, and the remaining volumes are now 6. It seems that there is already enough source material for a third season.

Disc sales and popularity

Disc sales are good financial data to see new season possibilities of animes. When is the third season of the anime?

Although there is no official news yet, we speculated about a third season of How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, but at the moment, we see the probability of a new season as 50%. However, the anime had previously managed to get a second-season approval. One of the project partners, Okuruto Noboru studio, is a fairly new studio and wants to prove itself; they will always be open to new seasons. The second season of the anime met with the audience three years later. With a possible renewal soon, we may see a new season around 2024.
