Why does my channel say this channel doesnt have any content?

“This channel has no content.”

Have you ever visited a channel you’re not subscribed to, and saw this notification? Turns out, this is a pretty common YouTube error that shows up for people who are not subscribed to the channel they’re looking at.

Check your channel

Log in to YouTube.
Head over to your channel homepage by clicking ‘My channel’ on the left sidebar, or click your avatar in the upper right, then click ‘My channel.” One of these two will work depending on the version of YouTube you are seeing.
Click “customize channel”
Under your banner you’ll see your channel name, and right beside it, a dropdown button right beside View as. Click the dropdown button and select New visitor.

If you see your videos or your channel trailer, you’re good. If not, you’re going to see an error that says “This channel has no content.”

How to fix “This channel has no content”

Make sure that you’re viewing your channel homepage as Yourself. You’ll see a couple of tabs that say ‘For returning subscribers’ and ‘For new visitors’ – click ‘For new visitors’. From here, you can follow one or both of the steps below.

Add a channel trailer. If you don’t have a channel trailer yet, you’ll see a button that says (+) Channel trailer. Click that and either select any of your existing videos to be your channel trailer, or you can create one.
Add a section. Below the trailer you’ll see a button that says (+) Add a section. Sections are the groups of videos you can see under the channel trailer. It can be anything from your most Popular uploads, Liked videos, Posted videos, Playlists, etc.

And that’s it! If you view your channel as a new visitor, you’re going to see content and your videos won’t be hidden anymore. It’s a quick and simple fix!

When you browse a YouTube channel (or browse your own YouTube channel), you notice on the home page a message that says “This channel doesn’t have any content”. However, the channel has videos uploaded (if you click the video tab) so this message is very confusing.

The reason this message appears is because there is no channel trailer added for new visitors to the YouTube channel. Follow the steps below to set a trailer video on a YouTube homepage.

Login to your YouTube account and click CUSTOMIZE CHANNEL button.

Click the Home tab and then select For new visitors.

Click Channel trailer and add a video. In some cases, you have to add the video by URL.

Per YouTube: The trailer is the first video that new channel visitors see. Choose a video that's short, describes your channel, and encourages visitors to subscribe.

Now, browse the YouTube channel again (log out of your YouTube account first to be sure you are browsing the channel as a visitor) and you should no longer see the "channel doesn't have any content message" and a video should be displayed. Remember, this is a trailer video so you can only have one video displayed here at a time.

Why does my YouTube channel say this channel does not exist?

This status may have happened because you chose to hide your channel through Google Account settings.

Why is my content not showing on YouTube?

WORKAROUND if this issue is impacting your video: Check out your channel page under the Video Tab (sort by newest uploads first). If your video is not appearing there, we recommend you go back to Studio, move the video to unlisted, and then immediately back to public. You may need to do this a few times.
