to identify which of the following ionic compounds is expected to have the hot, the highest lattice energy. We need to know how properties associated with the ions affect the lattice energy. And there are two properties that we typically focus on lattice energy increases. If we have an increase in the charge of the ions, the greater the charge, the greater the lattice energy. Lattice energy also increases if we have a decrease in the size of the ions. So as the ions get smaller, the lattice energy increases. In looking at rubidium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium chloride. They all have chloride is the an ion. The only difference is the cat ion and all cat ions have the same charge. So we can't focus on an increase in charge. They all have the same charge. But we can now look at the size of the ions. sodium being highest on the periodic table is the smallest cat ion. Therefore, sodium chloride would have the greatest lattice energy. I hope that helps. Sorry, I just realized that there's actually one more eye on here. That's lithium. The lithium chloride. So, with the lithium chloride actually let's just cut that. And then the lithium chloride is going to be the smallest cat eye on. So it's going to be the lithium chloride that has the greatest lattice energy

Which ionic compound has highest lattice energy?

Answer: 1. Sodium fluoride (NaF) shows highest lattice energy among these compounds since Na+ features ions of the same charge, the lattice energy increases as the size of the ions increases.

Which of the following compounds has the highest lattice energy?

Hence, AlBr3 has the highest lattice energy. The lattice energy is directly proportional to the charge on the ion and inversely proportional to the size of the ion.

Which has highest lattice energy LiCl nacl KCL Rbcl?

    LiCl has highest lattice enthalpy.
