This time of year can be a little challenging when getting dressed. You could go from a sweater and jeans in the morning to a t-shirt and jeans in the afternoon and then grab your sweater again for the evening. I’m not complaining, because the pops of warm weather that we feel in Virginia Beach in the spring are glorious, but I am often a little perplexed at what to throw on.

Completely unrelated, but related, we have found ourselves watching a lot of HGTV this winter and now spring. It could be that it is seemingly happy and non-political and home improvements help inspire us to continue to revise our own space, but also the “fashion” or should we say style of the personalities on HGTV give me great ideas for dressing in the spring.

So, to bring it back to getting dressed for spring, l am taking a cue from some of my favorite HGTV celebrities. They can wear an awesome t-shirt, jeans, and boots and sometimes an edgy jacket or even some cute and extremely comfortable overalls. These styles are great for the spring because they allow you to layer on or take off. Let me share with you some inspiration!

Erin Napierfrom Home Town has great style. She has a way of making classic southern pieces like a floral dress a little more bohemian and almost edgy at times with her fun haircut. I mean I LOVE her hair! She does so much with a short hairstyle, and always coordinates with fun and interesting earrings. She is someone who you know is an artist in the way she presents herself. She dresses with purpose thinking of colors and textures, the same way she styles a home.

Jenny Marrs from Fixer to Fabulous – Jenny seems to really own her style. She isn’t afraid to wear bright colors or a simple hoodie when she is on the job site and she does a great job layering over a simple t-shirt. This is a great way to elevate your warmer spring day outfit by adding a simple cardigan or bright patterned kimono.

Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper rarely makes a misstep in my opinion when it comes to fashion. Her laid-back style is approachable and effortless even when she is wearing a baseball hat. She seems to always nail it, pun intended. I also think she set a tone for women on HGTV through her show by wearing appropriate attire on job sites. It would be so much less authentic if a cast member showed up in heels with a bunch of nails on the ground. Whether she is wearing Birkenstocks, a t-shirt and pair of distressed jeans, or a flowy dress with a fun ponytail she seems to always get it right.
