In my opinion, the leaves weren't fresh. I couldn't use them because they were all black when they arrived.

these banana leaves did really well for wrapping up my Koba Ravine log ... unfortunately placing the log in a crock pot, instead of boiling it for 3 days in a huge tub of water like the video showed, did not turn out so well. the crock pots on here all stated that they did not go very much above boiling anyways so iplaced my mini-log into one and let it cook on slow for 2 days while constantly keeping my water topped up. this recipe "drinks" a lot of water before it gets done as it is turning the brown sugar and ground peanuts into a sort of caramel log which has a layer of rice flower between the log and the banana leaf wrapping. the crock pot turned it into a huge lump of charcoal wrapped in moist banana leaves and tied shut with 100 percent cotton butcher's twine

ihad much better results baking the remainder of my filling with the rice flower stirred into it in a 13 by 9 pyrex casserole dish with a quart of milk poured over it and a couple of pieces of banana leaf placed on top of a layer of rice flour and weighted down with some potatoes, which idecided to bake at the same time. using this method with the temperature set at 350, it is done when your whole house smells like caramel chunk cookies. the taters might take a bit longer. it turns out much like a very thick pudding or maybe a dough of some sort, this depends on how much milk or water you add. adding some vanilla is optional, or so igathered from the youtube video where isaw it cooked. they added it to one batch but left it out of a second, then mentioned that one could add in other spices and or flavoring if they wished.

We cut the leaves in squares. Then we steamed pastelles in the leaves and served as Banana Boats to 30 of our friends at a small plates party. Fabulous and fun serving these on the leaves. The leaves did the trick!

These aren't banana leaves. They're plantain leaves, otherwise they would have been softer and easier to fold for tamales :/ tasted fine though ig

I have to say I was surprised by the quantity and the quality. Shipping and packing was just fine. They were not all perfect, but out of that amount, I probably had 10 leaves that were not in good shape; overall, I would purchase again.
