This fact sheet provides information about the Algebra 1 and Geometry EOC assessments that measure student achievement of the Florida Standards and the Civics, Biology 1, and U.S. History EOC assessments that measture student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS), as outlined in their course descriptions.

What do I need to know?

Public school students enrolled in Algebra 1 must participate in the Algebra 1 End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment. The Algebra 1 EOC assessment, aligned to Florida's Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards, will be administered for the first time in winter 2022. Students taking Algebra 1 EOC for the first time this year will participate in the Algebra 1 EOC aligned to the B.E.S.T. Standards. Students who need to meet their graduation requirement by retaking the FSA Algebra 1 EOC assessment, aligned to the Florida Standards, will test in fall 2022 or spring 2023.

Students taking the Algebra 1 EOC will have the opportunity to test during one of the following administrations throughout the year:

  • September 12–30, 2022 (FSA Algebra 1 EOC Retake administration; aligned to the Florida Standards)
  • November 28–December 16, 2022
  • February 20–March 10, 2023 (FSA Algebra 1 EOC Retake administration; aligned to the Florida Standards)
  • May 1–26, 2023
  • July 10–21, 2023

Your exact testing dates within these windows are determined by your district. Some districts may have specific rules/restrictions for each test administration.

How can I prepare?

REQUIRED: Students must take the Algebra 1 EOC practice test prior to taking the EOC assessment. This practice test will help you gain familiarity with the types of questions and test functionality.

What is the End-of-Course Assessment?

The Education Code in the Florida Statutes mandates that public school students take the statewide, standardized End-of-Course (EOC) assessment that correlates with the EOC course in which they are enrolled.

The Algebra 1 and Geometry EOC assessments, aligned to Florida's Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards, will be administered for the first time in winter 2022.

Districts determine the exact dates for each test administration. Some districts may have specific rules/restrictions for each test administration.

Algebra 1 EOC:

  • September 12–30, 2022 (FSA Algebra 1 EOC Retake administration; aligned to the Florida Standards)
  • November 28–December 16, 2022
  • February 20–March 10, 2023 (FSA Algebra 1 EOC Retake administration; aligned to the Florida Standards)
  • May 1–26, 2023

Geometry EOC:

  • September 12–30, 2022 (final FSA administration; subsequent administrations will be aligned to the B.E.S.T. Standards

What is a passing EOC score in Florida?

The passing score on FCAT 2.0 Reading, Mathematics and Science and each Florida EOC Assessment is the minimum score in Achievement Level 3, and the passing score on FCAT 2.0 Writing is a score point of 3.5.

What is a good score on the Algebra EOC?

For Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, English I, and English II, EOC scale scores have values starting at 325 and 400 as the threshold of indicating proficient achievement level.

What is the highest Algebra 1 EOC score?

Test results for the FSA Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 EOC assessments are reported using developmental scale scores which can range from 425 to 575. In addition to the scale scores, results are also reported in terms of Achievement Levels, which can range from Level 1 (low) to Level 5 (high).
