Is there any benefit to it? Besides having a warm fuzzy feeling inside you did a good deed? Because if that's the case, gold>fuzzy feeling. Not sure if there's a sort of karma meter in this game that isn't measured like fallout, but plays a role in your ending or something

In this case I'm referring to a witcher contract. I can accept the coin or say "keep the coin" for the guy's kid.

They will normally give you items if you refuse payment in coins. Can sometimes be benificial to refuse payment in coins.

I know I'm an as$hole, get used to it.

You get more exp. Seriously, its a pretty sizable difference sometimes.

Killing's the first thing humans learned. And a good thing we did, or we'd be dead, and the Mudcrabs would own the earth.

if it does not glitch yes. though you might get more, never replayed those yet. replayed some quests, noticed the different complete options the one that gives the most xp tends to be the one the gives the least gold.

I'm about ~25 hours into the game, and I haven't noticed any side-effects either way on any of the contracts I had the option to turn down coin. Just do what you feel like - Money is hard to come by early on, but later in the game there's rarely anything worth buying. You end up with near infinite gold.

when ever you have the option to refuse payment, do it. You get lots of exp, and money is not an issue in this game.

There is a good amount of exp difference in most contracts if you refuse gold. Sometimes you get a item that actually sells for more gold then you would of been given.

I just got this game a few days ago. Already I've noticed a few quests give you the option to refuse the reward. Do you ever get anything from this, or should I be grabbing every cent I can?

I don't know about urinals. Half the guys are afraid to use them and most who aren't afraid can't hit them

There is one other to watch out for... if you're doing Gwent at all, later in the game you'll run into a quest where you find cards for another character, then he gives you a choice of taking the cards or taking money. Take the cards... it's the only way to get those cards.

Otherwise... agreed with Ogre, you're a Witcher and Witchers don't do things for free. Take the money.

The only one that really matters is the when you helped the merchant at the very start of the game. Its one of the choices that decide which ending you get.

Other than that, No, You there is no downside to not taking the money. The only upside are kind words.

The merchant who was attacked by the griffin? This seriously changed the game's ending??

No, it doesn't.

Not taking the merchant's money will let you have a discount when you buy from him, that's all.

You get more quest experience from turning down reward money. Can't believe no one has mentioned this.

I usually turn em down for higher xp, you could always sell stuff later

I regret any hurt feelings you may incur

Normally, if you turn down money, you get more exp than if you accept the money.
Money is hard to come buy in White Orchard but later you get so many uselees junk like weapons, armors and such that you can just sell.

After leaving white orchard if wiser to turn down the money rewards since exp is harder to get than money.

For instance, Im way ahead in my game, already got all gwent cards, about to leave skellige and im still level 25.

Should I take the coin or cards Witcher 3?

Since Zoltan has the coin he needs to pay his debt from Duke, he leaves your choice of reward up to you. Either the three rare cards or split the gold (350 crowns). It is wise to take the three cards to help with the side quest “Collect 'em All!” Once you decide a reward, the quest will end.

What happens if you don't take the gold for killing the Griffin?

If you turn down the gold you get more experience.

What happens if you don't visit the emperor Witcher 3?

Ignoring the Emperor is the required choice if you want Ciri to choose to become a Witcher at the conclusion of the game. However, she can still live if you see the Emperor, she just won't choose to follow in Geralt's footsteps. Do not go to the Emperor if you want Ciri to become a Witcher.
