What haircut looks good with hats?

I love wearing hats but finding styles to wear underneath your hat can be tricky. Here are some of my favourite hairstyles to wear under your hat.

First up, I have a tip to avoid dreaded hat hair.

How to avoid hat hair

If you like to wear your hair out under your hat, you’ll be away of the awkward flat hat hair that ensues.

This trick saves my hair every time.

Before putting on your hat, part your hair to the opposite side that you want to wear it.

So if you normally part your hair on the right, part your hair on the left before putting on your hat. If you like a middle part, you can choose either side to part your hair.

By switching your part, the flattening effects of the hat have a new purpose. They give your hair a volume root boost. When you remove your hat, flip your hair over to the way your normally part your hair and you’ll have awesome volume. Works every time.

But back to the hat hairstyle ideas.

Hairstyles that are below the band of your hat are best. This way your hat sits on top of the braids.

For this style, I’ve created a Dutch braid low across the back of my head like this braided style.

Pigtails are a fun style to wear under your hat. I love this pigtail combo braid but basic pigtails work too. These low styles are great for wearing under a hat and for keeping your hair off your neck as well.

A low bun is another simple style to wear under your hat. I love a braided bun as it holds in place better in my hair.
