I have always wanted a hardcover set of these books so I took a punt. Reviewed in Australia on 14 November 2020 Verified Purchase This edition has not been converted into Kindle format well. There is no table of contents and a lot of mistakes in the text. When I finally found the Magicians Nephew for my Lockdown Zoom read thru I discovered the main characters were Digory and Pony rather than Digory and Polly. I guess you get what you pay for.... Reviewed in Australia on 14 October 2020 Verified Purchase $4.18 for all the Narnia books together in Kindle - bargain! My only complaint is that there is no contents page or index for the books within. You'll have to search to find them and bookmark them if you want to read them in a different order. Reviewed in Australia on 12 October 2020 Verified Purchase I love this series. I remember reading it when I was 10 and now I'm 65, this must be my 20th read. But now I have it on kindl, I'll be able to read it any time, any where. Reviewed in Australia on 9 October 2020 Verified Purchase The Narnia series of children's novels is much loved all over the world. Top reviews from other countries5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing set Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 January 2019 Verified Purchase These books are really superb for anyone that loves collecting nice looking books or for someone that is a fan of the Narnia series. The quality of the book container is thick cardboard,
but mine came with a knock in the corner which was a little frustrating but not the end of the world, as I can just face that against the wall. 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing set These books are really superb for anyone that loves collecting nice looking books or for someone that is a fan of the Narnia series. Apart from the American English spelling used, which is a travesty for such a quintessentially English work, this edition omits the majority of Pauline Baynes's original illustrations which make the stories a delight to read. Only the frontispiece of each book is included and the illustration at the heading of each chapter, all others are omitted. The Lewis's original illustrations for the bonus book 'Boxen' are included so it cannot be for technical reason. The texts are of course classics, although their quality does vary from the outstanding 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' to the rather dull 'The Magician's Nephew' but all are worth reading. 'Boxen' is typical juvenalia and only worth reading idf you are a Lewis completist. Read 'The Chronicles of Narnia' even if, like me, you are an atheist. Despite what Phillip Pullman says (and I greatly admire his work) the Christian ideology does not diminish the story-telling, although I agree with Pullman that Lewis is a little curmudgeonly in denying Susan a return to Narnia because she likes nylons, make-up and presumably boys. However she is, I suppose, spared a premature death in the train crash. Great stories but a very poor Kindle edition with a misleading description. Avoid! 3.0 out of 5 stars Great stories but... Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 December 2020 Verified Purchase These are great stories that I enjoyed as a child and I am enjoying reading again as an adult. However the kindle edition, though good value, is dreadful. There are countless errors of spelling, punctuation, typos, wrong words in places. In addition to that it is very badly laid out so that there is no space
between one book and the next or one chapter and the next. For example: Exactly like that. Irritating and badly done. 3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap & cheerful Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2022 Verified Purchase First to note is that the order of the books are not as originally published but are instead numbered in chronological order of events. The order as published should be: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Reasonable value for money, though not a premium product given they are essentially cheap paperback books. But of course it's the words that matter and in that regard these appear to be faithfully reproduced, and - at least in the edition I received, reproduced in British English, not American English as some have stated. However the reproduction of the original illustrations are rather poor as can be seen in the example posted. Overall not bad, but cheap and cheerful. Nonetheless as a read, most young children should enjoy reading these series of books. 3.0 out

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 August 2016 Verified Purchase A trip down memory lane for me as I enter my second childhood! The only disappointment is that this quintessentially British collection of beautifully written prose has been digitally published with American English spellings (honor, color, plow), which just seems all wrong to me. The illustrations *are* included, however. |
