Product: notebook Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) No updates available, the other laptop plays great thru the TV (also an HP), new HDMI cable. The TV recognizes the device, and plays the video sound only, the TV only display's the wallpaper from the laptop, no mouse pointer. The video plays fine on the laptop and the sound transfers to the tv like its supposed to Tags (2)

I understand that you have connected an HDMI TV to your HP laptop and only the sound can be heard. The TV only display's the wallpaper from the laptop and the mouse pointer is absent. I'll be glad to assist you.

Make sure the TV is set to the correct video input to receive the HDMI signal. Most TV remotes have an Input button that cycles from one input to the next. Press the Input button repeatedly until the correct HDMI input is displayed on the TV.
What do you do if your TV has sound but no picture?Check the settings on the device for a switch that might turn outputs on or off. If you cannot get any pictures, replace the cables between your TV and the input devices. Use another device with the same input cables. If you get a picture, your input device might be faulty.
Why is my HDMI only playing sound?Restart the TV. Disconnect the HDMI cable from the HDMI port of each connected device. While TV is ON and the device is ON, reconnect the devices one by one, waiting until the TV recognizes the device or go to the HDMI input where the device is connected and test if TV is displaying a picture and if sound is heard.
