Patient is a 79 yr old male with open wound due to MOHS surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma. Procedure was skin graft. Pictures are 3 months post op. Patient 4* Individual Results May Vary Patient is an 82-year-old male. He acquired the wound from Mohs excision of squamous cell carcinoma. The wound was closed with a skin graft. The photos were taken 2 weeks apart. Patient 5* Individual Results May Vary Patient is a 78-year-old female. Patient had Mohs surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from the side and was later referred to Dr. Vu for wound. Wound was closed using a skin flap. Before After Next Case What does skin look like after skin graft?After the bandage is removed, the skin graft may look crusted and discolored. This is normal. The skin graft will change color over time. It may look very red for 2 to 3 months.
How long before skin graft looks normal?At first, the colour of the grafted skin may appear red or purple, but it should begin to look more like your surrounding skin over time. It can take a year or two for the appearance of the skin to settle down completely.
Is a skin graft a serious surgery?Skin grafting is a major surgical procedure. The graft involves taking healthy skin from an area called a donor site and moving it to cover an area with damaged or missing skin. Donor sites may be areas under clothing, such as the inner thigh and buttocks.
