Scooby-Doo (also known as Scooby-Doo: The Movie) is a 2022 American live-action/computer-animated slapstick comedy mystery film based on the based on the long-running Hanna-Barbera animated television franchise of the same name created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, produced by Warner Animation Group and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is written by Kevin Costello and directed by Tim Story, and stars Ross Lynch, Chloë Grace Moretz, Dacre Montgomery, Peyton List, Sarah Gilman, Michael Peña, Colin Jost, Rob Delaney, and Ken Jeong in live-action roles. Frank Welker, Nicky Jam, Bobby Cannavale, and Lil Rel Howery also feature in voice roles and the archival recordings of William Hanna, Mel Blanc and June Foray. The film's story follows Jerry taking up residence in a fancy hotel in New York City with both Scooby and Tom being hired to keep him and the phantom from ruining an important wedding and solve the mystery, until they have to put their differences aside to face against a staffer antagonizing the three.

Originally intended as a live-action/computer-animated film in 2010, the film languished in development hell, with plans eventually shifting to producing an entirely animated film, in the same vein as the original theatrical shorts, in 2016. The film again became a live-action/animated hybrid, using the shorts as inspiration, in 2018, with filming beginning in 2020.

Scooby-Doo is set to be theatrically released in RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on February 28, 2022, with a simultaneous streaming release on HBO Max.

Plot

A young brother and sister named Shaggy Rogers and Kayla Rogers befriends and adopts a talking stray puppy, whom he names Scoobert "Scooby" Doo. On Halloween night, Kayla, Scooby and Shaggy meet three young detectives named, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, and Velma Dinkley, before venturing into a haunted house. Inside, the kids encounter a ghost, whom they capture and unmask as costumed thief Mr. Rigby. Inspired by the experience, they decide form a group, Mystery Inc., to solve mysteries together.

Ten years later, Tom is kicked out by his owners, due to failing to do his job as a house cat and has no place to live anymore along with his longtime rival Jerry, who has also left without a source of food. Tom, who dreams of becoming a pianist, plays in Central Park acting as a blind cat to attract people while Jerry is in search of a new home. During one of Tom's performances, Jerry picks a fight with him which ends with Tom's piano destroyed, Jerry running off and Tom clashing with a gang of alley cats led by Butch.

Scooby-Doo movies have released annually since the first WNSD era one, and it's mainly stuck to a two animated movies per year schedule, so it's likely we could see another two 2D movies this year.

We know of the Holliday Haunt movie (part of Scoob, which apparently it's separate to the Scoob sequel? I really don't know), the crossover with Krypto, and that's all that's really been discussed at this point in time. Hopefully we hear more on the upcoming DTV movies shortly. There's never usually any information on anything unless there's an official word.
