The Heineken 0.0 Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon and  Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2022. There will also be a 5k on in Balboa Park on Saturday, June 4, 2022 . Course Maps, Road Closures and No Parks

Road Closure Information

Most road closures and detours on Sunday will be in effect between the hours of 5:30am and 3:30pm. At 5:30am, Police and event personnel will implement a soft closure along the entire race route. The marathon and half marathon both begin at 6:45am. Streets will reopen on a rolling basis as soon as the last participant has passed and all course support materials have been removed. Please review the road closure grid and course map for more information. Resident and businesses located near the race course are urged to plan ahead and be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes. 

Freeways & Ramp Closure Information

On Sunday, freeway and ramp closures associated with the course may impact your travel. Please note, southbound SR-163 will remain OPEN to I-5. Freeway/ramp closures and times are subject to change. Please review our freeway and ramp closure gridfor more information.

Alternate Access Routes

San Diego Airport

From I-5 South

  • Take San Diego Airport/Sassafras Street exit. This puts you onto Kettner Blvd. 
  • Take Kettner to the traffic light at Pacific Highway and turn left
  •  Take Pacific Highway about 1/2 mile to Laurel St and turn right
  • Take Laurel St to the next light at N Harbor Dr and turn right

From I-5 North

  • Take San Diego Airport/Hawthorn St exit (signs will direct you onto westbound Hawthorn St)
  • Proceed to N Harbor Dr and turn right

From Southbound SR 163

  • Take Park Blvd exit
  • Turn left onto Park Blvd (northbound)
  • Turn right onto Zoo Place
  • Turn right onto Florida Dr
  • Entrance to the Naval Hospital is located at Bob Wilson Dr

  • Exit to eastbound Washington St
  • Turn right onto Washington St

  • Turn right on El Cajon Blvd.
  • Turn left on Washington St and stay left to enter Normal St.

Sun, Jun 4, 2023 On Saturday, the 5k starts at Presidents Way & Park Blvd and runs through the city before finishing at Balboa Park. On Sunday, the Marathon and Half Marathon both start at Sixth Ave & Quince St at Balboa Park. They initially follow the same route, before splitting off at Mile 8.3.
