More traits in CAS Sims 4

There are so many custom traits for The Sims 4 that you can find all over the internet so I came to an idea to compile some of the most useful traits that you can find. These traits function almost like every other trait: some give certain benefits for skills, careers etc, some disadvantages and they’ll determine the whims of your Sims.

Installing these custom traits is pretty easy. After downloading a .package file trait just place it in the Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods folder. Make sure you’ve enabled Mods / CC in your game!

Traits shown below are listed in alphabetical order. We’re not responsible in case these traits get removed or abandoned by their creators!

Make sure you keep track of custom traits on Mod The Sims because you can expect new ones to pop out every now and then.

What Does This Mod Do?

This mod, when downloaded, allows you to increase the number of trait slots you can have from 3 up to 5 while in create-a-sim mode (CAS).

This perk doesn’t just start with adults either. Instead, it backtracks to toddlers, children, and teens as well, increasing their total trait slots as well.

This means that toddlers will have 2 trait slots open, children will have 3, and teenagers will have 4.

Adding Traits To Existing Sims

One thing to note about this mod is that it only works directly through the CAS menu area. So if you want to add more traits to Sims in your current households you will need to cheat to do it. (Even if cheats aren’t your thing sadly there is not other way to add extra traits to existing households)

After you’ve finished downloading and installing the More Traits Mod, open up your current household and bring up the cheats box. To do this, press CTRL +SHIFT + C. You’ll then type in “cas.fulleditmode”.

This will let you enter into the CAS mode settings, where you’ll then be able to add any additional traits you want.

Do I Have To Give All My Sims Max Trait Slot?

If you only want to give certain sims the max number of traits, that’s completely fine. Since these are additional options, they aren’t required for any sim that you create. For those that you want to have the standard 3 traits, you only need to not fill out the additional slots when creating your sim. You can fill out as many or as few trait slots as you want.

Are Pet Traits Affected?

Currently, the mod doesn’t work for pets and pet trait slots. This is likely to change in the future, so you’ll want to be on the lookout for any news or updates.

Alternative Trait Mods

In addition to the ‘More Traits Mod’, there is also an alternative mod called ‘More CAS Traits Mod‘. Created by Vicky Sims, this mod is largely identical to the More Traits Mod, with only one real exception. Whereas the original mod only works while in the CAS menu,

More CAS Traits Mod is the exact opposite. Instead, you’re only able to add traits while in gameplay mode and with the Add Traits Menu mod.

Personally, while I do like the direct ability to go in and change things up when creating a sim, there is something equally as compelling about developing my characters throughout the game.

Is This Mod Compatible With Custom Trait Mods?

The good news is that the More Traits Mod is fully compatible with a host of different custom trait mods.

Creating a Sim in the CAS menu always goes through the same few steps. We create the looks, brand our Sims with a name, and characterize them with traits. And although there are cool traits in The Sims 4, many players feel like they are not enough. More specifically, simmers have a problem with not being able to use all the traits that they want. So how do you add more trait slots in Sims 4?

Well, that’s what we’re going to discuss in this post!

First of all, there could be many different reasons why you’d want to get more trait slots. This is especially true when you’re getting additional traits from mods on the internet, only to find that you can’t really use them all. Fortunately for us, there is a mod that fixes this problem!

The Sims 4 more trait slots mod that we’re talking about here is More Traits in CAS. It’s a creation by thepancake1 and MizoreYukii, two mod creators that we feature very often on SnootySims. Their More Traits in CAS mod is currently only available on their Patreon page, but it’s available for public use!

How Does This Mod Work?

It’s very simple. Once you get into the CAS mode after installing this mod, you’ll notice that there are more trait slots. Now, different age categories have a different number of slots. Here are all of them!

• Toddlers – 2 trait slots
• Children – 3 trait slots
• Teens – 4 trait slots
• Young Adults – 5 trait slots
• Adults – 5 trait slots
• Elders – 5 trait slots

As you can see, your adult Sims can now have up to 5 traits! This is honestly amazing because it improves so many different things in the actual gameplay. 

For example, now you can create a scientist Sim that also dabbles in music and loves dogs. Where in the base game, you must restrict yourself to choosing Logic and similar traits, which often make your Sim a one-dimensional character. This way, your Sims will feel more like real people!

Additionally, keep in mind that you don’t have to feel all the 5 trait slots with this mod! If you choose, you can only pick 4 traits for your Sim and leave them at that. The game won’t add a random one for you.

And that’s the value you’re going to get from this mod! The great part is that it’s compatible with the base game, and you don’t need any particular DLC to make it work. And it’s also compatible with most other trait extensions out there, so we highly recommend it.
