Lucas power steering stop leak How to use

CORONA, CA – April 2, 2020 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Lucas Oil’s Power Steering Stop Leak is an effective blend of special oils and petroleum-extracted additives that leaves little room for error. With the confidence of a money-back guarantee from Lucas Oil Products, the American-based manufacturer and distributor of lubricants and additives, Power Steering Stop Leak is guaranteed to keep your steering unit in pristine condition.

As your power steering pump ages, it is common for seal leaks to occur, which results in fluid loss. Poor lubrication in your steering system can make for really annoying squeals and complicate steering ability, significantly reducing the life expectancy of your vehicle. Power Steering Stop Leak’s unique formulation is specially designed to correct these issues immediately – and with only one bottle.

“I recently added Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak to my 2001 Chevy Venture V6 with over 152,000 miles and I must report that my steering system has got new life again,” said David Girard, long-time Lucas Oil customer. “Thanks for a fantastic product!”

Power Steering Stop Leak’s formula is designed to reduce slack in rack and pinion and eliminate those annoying squeals for good. It’s especially ideal for older cars, which face fluid issues more commonly. This is a cost-effective solution for an otherwise pricey repair.

Another perk about Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak is its versatility. Free of harmful solvents and made to keep leaking vehicles off the roads, this steering unit additive is therefore environmentally friendly. It can be used on cars, semi-trucks, and aquatic vessels.

Not sure if this stopped the "leak" i had but it definitely did stop the squeal when turning the wheel 100% in 1 direction or another. I say I am not sure if it stopped the "leak" because i have had my car for 190,000+ miles with no issues and then I take my car in for an alignment and there is fluid on the frame of my car and leaking on my garage floor as soon as I get home. Well I ordered this and sucked out the remaining fluid in my reservoir and filled with the red lucas power steering stop leak and haven't had an issue since with a leak but I don't know if the place I took it to just pour fluid on the frame of my car to make it look like I had a real leak or not. Either way my power steering has been without issue since adding this to my car and the tiny squeak that would happen when the steering wheel was turned all the way is now gone as well.

It took about a month or two to completely stop the leak whereever it was in the power steering line, but it did! That's at least a $500 savings compared to a repair shop. Simple to use once you find the correct Reservoir. My fluid was already low, so it didn't take much work to remove a little more of the original fluid and then fill with Leak Stop.

It's my fault for not reading 12oz and but instead looking at the pic you only get 1 bottle not 2

My powe steering leak wasn't fixed with this. I will add that once I used it, instead of having to add fluid daily, I was able to go about a week, without adding more fluid.

I have been hearing for sometime now that these power steering stop leak products don't work (esp. with HONDAs.) Since mine has been leaking for a while now, I decided to give it a try - albeit very carefully. Honda vehicles are VERY picky about what fluids go in them (transmission, brake system, etc). I contacted the manufacturer and they gave me the green light to go ahead.

Since this is an actual TEST experiment (FEB 10, 2012), I am only using a few ounces (about 1.8oz) and going to monitoring it for a few weeks and see what happens. So far the leak has slowed (not that it was leaking badly - a few tiny, tiny droplets every week). And this was overnight. The steering pump sounds slightly quieter (it had a slightly higher pitch sound to it). I will adjust the rating over the next few months after I see any negative/positive changes.

Update as of Feb 22, 2012: The PS fluid continues to leak. I added some more and it did quiet the steering pump a bit more. Again, I will continue to monitor the leak.

Update as of Feb 24, 2012: The fluid is still slow leaking. One other new thing I noticed is that it acts as a decent noise baffle, to quiet the slight slackness in the rack. The car now feels like the front bushings were recently changed (...quiet!...).The front-end now drives reasonably more quieter than before I started using it. I guess it because of the increased viscosity of the fluid. I will NOT be adding any more stop leak to the car until the next couple of months. But this will depend on the leak increasing/decreasing.

If it cannot be stopped as this point, I will have to start to save up for a rack rebuild. I dont want to risk the seal to be saturated with Lucas(and then become mushy) and create a worse-off problem. At this rate it is reasonably diluted. This should not speedily advance any possible deterioration of any of the seals (IF indeed it does do that - thats just my assumption based on some internet reviewers I have read). Will provide future feedback in a couple of months OR if something major occurs as a result of using Lucas.

Update on Nov 2013. The power steering is still leaking after using 16oz. I'll just give Lucas a two star and call it a day. It clearly cannot stop some basic leaks. Its only real benefit is that it stiffens the rack due to the increased viscosity and dampens some rack steering sounds. Buy at your discretion, it may work for you !

I tightened up the PS belt on my 83 Silverado and it began to leak fluid from the front seal of the PS pump. Before I replaced the pump, I thought I would try this. Enough fluid had leaked out so the 12 oz mostly filled the reservoir. Instructions say don't use more than 2 x 12 oz bottles (there is a larger bottle available) and I am guessing that if 2 bottles don't do the job, it is time to replace the front seal at least. However, just one has stopped the leaking entirely. I am surprised.

Added 12 oz bottle 3 months ago. Leak reduced to about half in about a week, from a spot about size of the bottom of a coffee cup on garage floor to about half as big. Spot kept getting smaller until it stopped altogether about a month after I added Lukas. If I’d been thinking l would have sucked out 12 oz burned power steering fluid, added new PS fluid and repeated until burn smell was gone and then add Lukas because I didn’t remove enough of the burned PS fluid before adding Lukas. The pulley input shaft seal on these year Toyota begin to leak after 15-20 years as both of mine did. Saves $$$$ since shops usually replace the pump instead of replacing the seal. 2002 Sienna van with 150,000 miles.

I had a power steering system leak that caused that awful hum every time I turned the wheel. I would top off with power steering fluid but after a 4-6 days the reservoir would be low again and I'd have to retop. My car is 17 years old so there's no way I'm going to pay for an expensive repair, but I like the car and hate buying a new one.

I bought a bottle of the Lucas Stop Leak figuring what do I have to lose. I started topping off the reservoir with it instead of regular fluid. It took a number of times topping off the reservoir, a good half dozen to ten times over a couple of months and probably about half to three-quarters of the bottle, but magically one time it took. Haven't had that humming noise in over a month now. It really worked in stopping the leak.

It doesn't work at all..!! Don't buy as it wont work. I used it for my Skoda Octavia MK1 and it didn't work. Leakage was same as before. Don;t waste your money!!

How long does it take for power steering stop leak to work?

Add Bar's Leaks Power Steering Stop Leak to power steering reservoir to restore fluid level. Do not overfill. Leaks usually stop in 200 miles or 3 days of driving. If leak continues, a second application may be required or mechanical attention is needed.
