 CTSA ENDOWMENT FUNDThe Catholic Church of San Antonio is truly blessed with its own television station. CTSA, in addition to the televised daily Mass, offers coverage of the events of Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, news from the Vatican, and great local programming. Without question, this great resource deserves support. Not just in terms of current needed gifts but, as importantly, gifts that will impact the station today and perpetually. CTSA has an endowment fund at the Catholic Community Foundation. This endowment provides significant funds each year to CTSA and will on an ongoing basis. But, the amounts provided each year depend on the size of the endowment. That's why gifts to the endowment are so important. Does watching Mass online fulfill Sunday obligation?As a general rule, Catholics are obliged to attend Mass each Sunday. This is in fulfillment of the Second Commandment. Simply watching Mass on TV does not fulfill the obligation. A Catholic who can reasonably do so must attend Mass at a parish church or oratory.
Can Catholics still attend online Mass?Most dioceses have lifted the obligation to attend Mass due to the pandemic. You're still encouraged to attend Mass in whatever way you can during this time. Depending on what works for your schedule, you can watch a live streaming video of Mass as it happens or watch a recording.
Does online Mass count as Mass?Watching Mass on TV is not the same as attending Mass and does not fulfill someone's Sunday/holy day obligation. However, if someone is unable to attend Mass, then there is no obligation to attend Mass.
What channel is the Catholic Channel on TV?The Catholic Faith Network (CFN) is available on Optimum channel 29/137, Verizon Fios TV channel 296, and Charter Spectrum channel 162/471 throughout the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area.
