Its 7 oclock on the dot where is usher

“Nice & Slow” has one of the best opening lyrics in the history of R&B.  This is not an opinion, it’s a fact.  If you, as a black person born between 1980-1990, are ever asked where Usher was, at 7 o’ clock on the dot, you BETTER answer in his “drop top, cruising the streets…”  For him to be anyplace else is just unacceptable.

That song was one of those jams we were singing so hard, when we had absolutely no business doing so!  Who was we “making love until the sun comes up” to at 14 years old??  Wait, I did know a few little fast girls, but that’s besides the point.  I guess it all worked out in the end though, because now that we’re grown and know EXACTLY what he was talking about, we can throw that joint on the “Sexy Time” playlist and sing it like we mean it when needed.

“Nice & Slow” is the song that made everybody wish they had a name with 12 letters in it, cause when it came time for him to “U.S.H.E.R.R.A.Y.M.O.N.D” us, we all wanted to throw our name up in there.  Sadly, I was short by 1 letter, definitely didn’t have the same ring to it.

Almost 25 years later, Usher is still out here giving us gems. His voice is timeless, and so is his gorgeous face.  He (and Jermaine Dupri) knew exactly what (t)he(y) was doing back then talking bout “I’ll freak you right, I will“.  He was cementing that female fanbase for life!  And he was successful, cause to this day, if Usher selling… I’m buying.

“Nice & Slow” was released in 1997 as the second single from Usher’s My Way album. The song was produced by Jermaine Dupri and he co-wrote the track alongside Usher, Manuel Seal, Jr., and Brandon & Brian Casey (half of Jagged Edge).
