How to teach Tangela Ancient Power Legends: Arceus

Think you’re having a bad hair day? Spare a thought for poor Tangela – for this Pokemon, every day’s a bad hair day! 

As one of the original 151 Pokemon from the very first games in the series, Tangela has been around for a long time – and though not all of those classic Pokemon appear in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Tangela does make the cut. 

And we’re going to help you get your hands on one!

Though there’s only one location to find Tangela in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the good news is that their spawn rate is very high, so you shouldn’t have any problems finding one. Simply head over to Gapejaw Bog in the Crimson Mirelands and you’ll no doubt find the very common Tangela there.

You can also find Tangrowth – the evolved form of Tangela -via Space-Time Distortions in Bonechill Wastes or Heart’s Crag, with each of those areas located in the Alabaster Icelands. Tangrowth, however, are very rare – so it might be easier to evolve your Tangela into Tangrowth – and we’ll tell you how!

Evolving Tangela into Tangrowth is simple, you’ll need your Tangela to learn the move Ancient Power, which will be an option once it reaches level 24. Once you’ve taught your Tangela Ancient Power, it’ll evolve into Tangrowth!

You can change your Pokemon’s moves on the fly, so be sure to change Tangela’s moves when it hits level 24!

How to level Tangela up quickly in Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Though it can be a little slow getting your Tangela to level 24, we have a few tips to help you speed up the process. Firstly, make sure your Tangela is always in your party – that way it’ll get a share of the experience received in any battles.

Next, buy and use as many Rare and XP Candies as you can – these can be purchased in Jubilife Village from the Candy Stand or the Trading Post, but are also given as rewards for completing some requests. Using candies on your Tangela will help it to reach level 24 in no time at all!

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Piloswine learns Ancient Power at level 34. It masters the move about 10 levels later at level 45. To prompt this species to evolve, trainers must change its move set so that Ancient Power is one of its four moves and then level it up at least once. This will prepare Piloswine for evolution.

Why doesn't my Tangela know ancient power?

In FireRed/LeafGreen, Tangela does not learn Ancient Power at level 38, and in fact, does not learn it at all. If you saw Ancient Power on a list of level up moves for Tangela, it's because you were looking at one for a Gen 4+ game.
