Did you create a circle but still aren’t sure how to invite members to join? Did you receive an invitation on Life360 but can’t find the code anymore? Do you already have a code but the app won’t let you join the circle with it now?

These are just some of the questions we’ll be answering in this article. Along with some details regarding invites that you should be aware of before you start complaining about the app’s functionality or restrictions.

What Is a Life360 Code?

A code is what you get from Life360 once you create a circle. Using that code, you can invite family members or friends to join that specific circle. Note that you won’t be getting a unique code that lets people join all your circles.

Each circle will have its own unique invite code. Now, you can invite as many people as you want to a circle. That said, the developers recommend keeping circles small, up to around ten people. This will help the app’s performance and real time location display.

This doesn’t affect the number of circles you can create or join yourself. You can be a member in multiple circles and that won’t affect the app’s performance.

For How Long Is a Life360 Invite Code Valid?

Unlike Facebook and other social media apps, when you send an invite to Life360 to someone this won’t last forever. Whenever you send a code to a family member or friend, they have only seven days to respond to that invite using the code.

After the week is up, you’ll have to re-invite that person if they haven’t responded.

How to Send Someone Your Code

There are three ways to send someone the necessary code to become a member of your circle. You can show them the code directly, send it over a messaging app, or send them the code via the app.

If you want to invite someone to your circle here’s how you do it:

1. Launch the app.
2. Go to your circle screen.
3. Tap the plus icon.
   
   
4. Tap on ‘Send Code’.
5. Select the preferred method like text, email, or a social media platform of choice.
6. Then type in or select the contact from your list.
7. Send the invite message.

Note that people can join your circle even if you send them an invite before they’ve registered an account. They’ll have to download and install the app and then join a circle using the code you’ve sent them.

Did the Invitation Get Lost?

What if you’re not a circle admin? What if someone invited you to join their Life360 circle and you’ve misplaced the code? What do you do then?

There are a few ways of finding the code without bothering that person for a re-invite. Although, you should start with that if it’s more convenient. Moving on, you can start by checking your SMS messages for the Life360 code.

If that doesn’t work, check your email, the email most likely used by the one who extended the invitation. Finally, you’ll also want to check your social media accounts. As previously mentioned, a circle admin can send an invite code via various mediums.

Therefore, check any means of communication between the two of you in order to find your code. And, if all else fails, just ask for the code yourself. You don’t have to create an account on Life360 through the invite link.

You can make one yourself and then use the code to join the circle.

1. Download the Life360 app and create an account.
2. Use your real phone number and email.
3. Log in and tap the ‘Circle Switcher’.
4. Tap on ‘Join a Circle’.
5. Type in the code and then tap the join button at the bottom of the screen.

You can repeat the process for any other invite codes you may have received.

Forgot Your Code?

If you forget the code and want to show it to a family member so that they can join your circle, all you have to do is go to the circle screen and tap the plus icon again. This will display the code. Note that there’s no reason to write it down as once a code expires, a new one will be generated for other people you want to invite.

Stay on Top of Your Family Activity

There’s no denying that Life360 is more than a simple family locator. If you take into account its premium features, which include roadside assistance and alerts, the app can really help families stay connected in a much more meaningful way than most social media apps.

As far as invites go, the limited time use code may not be ideal but it does come in handy as it prevents strangers from joining your group unannounced if they get a hold of your code.
