Still kind of curious about this, has anyone on this thread end up finding a download code for Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition? I know this is probably a dead thread but still I would love to know if someone did.

So any luck with anyone obtaining the game or finding a digital code?

I think your only real option is looking for a console/account with access to the game.

Isn't it against tos to purchase an account? And also as much as I appreciate you recommending this to help me, I would really like to have the game under my own account. Thank you so much though

I just don’t think there’s any other options. The game is no longer meant to be purchased, and I don’t even know if it was ever sold via codes.

@Eel It was sold through codes I can recall seeing them on stores shelves, and it was sold on other retailers such as amazon.

& since it was a free upgrade from the Switch specific version to the Bedrock edition, any codes might just goto that as the previous 1 isn't available anymore.... Sorry we can't help

Yeah I actually bought one that was advertised as the legacy version, but it redeemed as bedrock. I got a refund though. It is quite a gamble but if a refund is guaranteed I'm willing to try. The codes for the original game wouldn't have changed to the new version, but I'm afraid they're quite scarce.

It possible they all could be retroactively updated in the server to give the new version, as Bruce suggest.

Did the code card you buy specifically say Nintendo Switch Edition?

Yes it did, but wouldn't it be misleading/illegal if a code purchased for the legacy version redeemed as the bedrock version?

@sewshyfish not really, because Minecraft “bedrock” is a permanent replacement for Minecraft “For Nintendo Switch”, think of it like you’re buying a book online, but you end up receiving a new version that comes with a different cover instead because it’s what is on circulation now.

In this case, they probably can’t legally sell the old version anymore.

I guess that makes sense, thank you for the help. I'll just continue on my hunt and hopefully stumble across it one day.

@sewshyfish good luck! If you do end up finding it, do share your results, I’m sure other people would love to know it’s it’s possible.

I don't play Minecraft but is this the Minecraft did you mean?

There are a lot of this Minecraft Switch version in physical release in my country Indonesia.

@Anti-Matter
That’s the bedrock edition. Op wanted Minecraft Nintendo switch edition. It was available for about a year but then bedrock was created. It is no longer available to purchase.

@Anti-Matter Unfortunately no, the one I'm referring to launched only digitally on the eshop and was discontinued after June 2018.

UPDATE: I had found online resellers that sell accounts that own the legacy version. Unfortunately this isn’t exactly what I’m searching for as I’d much rather own the game on my Nintendo account

@CactusMan Yeah if I bought an account from one of these retailers I found I would be able to have the game, but unfortunately I wouldn’t have it in my own Nintendo account

I want to ask.
Is that version (Bedrock edition) really worthy to get when the Switch version in physical release still available ?
I was thinking, if that version cannot be obtained anymore even you have to use other people's account, my advice to you is just let them go. Moving on. Get the available version you can play so you will not feel frustrated.
