There are 16 tables spoons in one cup. Or:
#1" cup" = 16" tbls"#
To find how many tables spoons in #1/6# of a cup we can divide each side of the equation by #color(red)(6)#:
#(1" cup")/color(red)(6) = (16" tbls")/color(red)(6)#
#1/6" cup" = ((2 xx 8)" tbls")/color(red)((2 xx 3)#
#1/6" cup" = ((color(red)(cancel(color(black)(2))) xx 8)" tbls")/color(red)((color(black)(cancel(color(red)(2))) xx 3)#
#1/6" cup" = 8/3" tbls"#
The are #8/3# or #2 2/3# tablespoons in #1/6# of a cup.
This is the answer. Get a scale that isn't annoying to use (easier said than done) and then avoid using measuring cups when you can
A. Being that exact really doesn't matter for any recipe I know of. Nobody is baking bread with perfect stoichiometric ratios. Just do half the 1/3 cup and you'll be plenty close
B. A scale accurate to grams is going to be way more exact than the best measuring cups, so if you really think it would matter, the scale is going to make all your measurements more accurate. But in reality most ingredients as long as you're within 10% you'll produce good results, if you go 25% off you might just create a new recipe. That's what "chewy" or "thin" cookies are, just increasing or decreasing a couple ingredients in the cookies. Just consider it an experiment
The scale is much more consistent for powdered ingredients like flour or brown sugar. For most things you can just place the mixing bowl on the scale and Tare it, putting ingredients directly into the bowl as you go. So much less to clean up

It's worth noting that usage of the cup in modern recipes is mostly confined to the United States and Canada. The cup hasn't been used as a standard measurement in British recipes since the 1960s. That said, it is still possible to come across a modern recipe that references a cup of flour, sugar or other ingredient. And the fact that we're all online these days means your recipe could come from anywhere!
