Necessary Tools:

1. 13mmeter wrench
2. 10mmeter wrench
3. Plastic fastener removal tool
4. Gloves (recommended)

• Open the hood
• Moving forward, find and locate the negative battery cable connected to the firewall. Carefully disconnect it using the 13mmeter wrench. Isolate the same cable to make sure it won’t come in contact with any other metal- wrapping a simple shop towel around the end will work fine.
• Next, remove the battery cover off the battery and then find and locate the air filter and its covering. Remove the air filter cover with the same 13mmeter wrench used earlier. Once the air filter box is uncovered, remove the air filter carefully and set it aside so that you can get to the lower airbox to remove it as well.
• Using the fastener removal tool, carefully pop the wiring grommets out so that you can move the wiring harness out of the way.
• Using your 10mmeter wrench – remove the positive battery cable. With everything is disconnected from the prior steps, you can now move the battery box out of the way to gain access to the battery itself.
• Use the 10mmmeter wrench to loosen and remove the battery holding bracket.
• Next, grab hold of the battery and pull it slightly forward toward you so that you can access the other end of the negative battery cable.
• Once you’ve disconnected the battery cable, pull the battery out and replace it with the new one. This would also be a good time to clean up any corrosion using an appropriate cleaner and wire brush or old shop rags.
• When you’re happy with the placement of the battery, place the negative battery cable back onto the negative battery terminal and tighten with the 10mmeter wrench.
• Slide the battery back into the battery box and replace the battery holding bracket you removed earlier.
• Reinstall the front of the battery box and positive battery cable.
• Reinstall the wiring harness, the grommets should snap back into place.
• Reinstall the lower air filter assembly followed by the air filter and the cover.
• Replace the battery cover and reconnect the negative battery cable to the firewall.
