How much do silver caskets weigh?

For transportation beyond the UK and Ireland a zinc lined coffin is required.

Our standard oak veneer coffin is sourced from Forest Stewardship Council certified European forests.  It is then zinc lined and sealed to conform to international transportation regulations.

The coffin is suitable for burial or cremation in the destination country.

For Ireland the same coffin is used but due to the lower altitude of the aeroplanes zinc lining is not required.

A metal casket can be used for repatriation to countries such as Jamaica and Nigeria. These do not require zinc lining and can be used for burial on arrival.

We have a large selection of coffins and caskets available.

As can be seen throughout our website, we try to be as transparent as possible with regard to information, service and complete charging structure.

To this end, we have listed below as many repatriation destinations as possible with precise costings. These prices are based on our best estimate of cost although they are subject to change but are updated regularly.

How much do silver caskets weigh?
Pricing is based on "standard" weights and sizes used across the airline industry and assumes the following:

  • The overall weight if a coffin is used during the repatriation is no more than 130kg.
  • Coffin size is up to 6'4" x 22" x 12" (193cm x 56cm x 30cm)
  • The overall weight if an American Casket is used is no more than 150kg

If these weights and/or sizes are exceeded, a surcharge maybe payable.

Our family was reluctant to deal with a vendor outside of the mortuary. I called the vendor and they provided information that eased our concerns. We purchased the casket, which cost us about $1,000 less than the mortuary’s cost. The casket was delivered 3 days after of was ordered. Glad we chose this vendor.

Absolutely 5 Stars! On-Time delivery, carefully packaged/No damage, Out-standing appearances-Coffin looks much prettier than the picture. Spousal approval- he turned to me and said the Funeral Home wanted $3000 for a pine box, so Yes, Thank YOU Very Much Overnight Casket! Sincerely, Harris Family

This was a beautiful casket for my mother. It was delivered by FedEx Freight and arrived in perfect condition. The funeral director said that I had purchased a beautiful casket. It was very similar (metal gauge, looks, etc) to one offered by the funeral home for ~$3,000.

What amazing service and a product that matches the service during mourning times. Our family heard many compliments of how Grand and beautiful the casket was and we are still talking about it months after the service. This company made it easy that words can not describe my thanks for the casket and the delivery service they provided during sad times.

It’s very nice, comfortable, a little small but it’s ok. I shoved my grandpa in there for a few nights and he didn’t come back out, so I guess he liked it too! Great purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars The light blue looks gray in some interior light, but is pretty blue in sunlight
By Nampa Mom on May 22, 2022

This does not show me as a verified buyer because my mom bought this on her Amazon account. We purchased this for our 14 year-old daughter's funeral. She died from cancer. Light blue was her favorite color. I was so pleased to find this casket that was not only a lovely color on the outside, but the inside was also light blue. Most caskets I saw had only white interiors. Since we were burying her in a white dress, we wanted a different color so she would stand out. It looked perfect.

The first time I saw the casket in person was under the lights at the funeral home. I was so upset because it looked an awful gray. But later, under the lights of our church and in the sunshine at the cemetery, it showed up in its lovely light blue. (Here is a lighting tip for if you want your loved one to look more natural at a viewing. My daughter didn't look right because I could see all the makeup caked on her face, but of course, she was a kid and shouldn't have looked like she was wearing makeup. The man from the funeral home stood on a chair and removed two of the fluorescent lights from over her head, and suddenly, she looked perfect. The light from the rest of the room was enough. By removing the light that was reflecting off her makeup, it was like magic! She looked so peaceful.)

I can't say enough good things about this casket. I was so pleased with their fast delivery. It was ordered April 15th and delivered to Idaho April 21st. I'm glad they were willing to ship to a residence. Since we knew my daughter was dying, we were able to order it ahead of time and store it in my parents' shop.

The casket was beautiful and sturdy. Six strong men and my little 11-year-old son were able to carry it.

I am so sorry if you have lost a loved one and are now shopping for a casket. Don't pay the high prices of the funeral home. In the U.S., they are required to accept any casket you supply on your own. You will not be disappointed with this one!

P.S. If you need a casket sooner than 6 days, Costco sells them online and they arrive in 3 days!

How heavy is carrying a casket?

Coffins and caskets alone, on average, can weigh around 25-40kg, but can weigh up to 100kg. The actual weight including the deceased will, of course, vary. We would suggest that only those of a reasonable level of fitness and the confidence to carry at least 25kg take on this important role.

How heavy is a coffin for a pallbearer?

There are also handles in the front and back so it is possible to have eight total pallbearers carrying the casket. The number needed depends on the size and heft of the coffin and its contents. Coffins alone generally weigh between 150-250 pounds and must be carried at waist height.

How much does a body weigh at a funeral?

Cremated remains resemble coarse sand and are whitish to light grey in color. The remains of an average sized adult usually weighs between 7 and 8 pounds.

Why do they cover the legs in a casket?

Fitting Concerns: Posthumous Care is essential to the funeral process because bodies start decomposing post-death. It is a common practice to cover the legs as there is swelling in the feet and shoes don't fit. As part of funeral care, the body is dressed and preserved, with the prime focus on the face.
