Alongside the new trailer, Crunchyroll also confirmed that the Season 2 finale would arrive on its streaming platform on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in subbed format. For those looking for the English dub, that will arrive a bit later on July 27, 2022, meaning dub fans will have to wait a bit longer to see how the story concludes.

“Learning that other nations are enduring the Calamity Waves, Naofumi vows to fight. But before he can begin, word comes that the massive Spirit Tortoise is free. The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will have 13 episodes across three Blu-ray/DVD volumes, the official Twitter and website confirmed today. The series will premiere on April 6, 2022, while a third season is also in the works.

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 Blu-ray/DVD details with the episode count

The first Blu-ray/DVD volume of the show contains episodes 1 to 4, and it will be released on July 27, 2022. The second volume will be available starting on August 24 and will contain episodes 5 to 8. Episodes 9 to 13 will be included in volume 3, which will be released on September 28. The second season of The Rising of the Shield Hero was animated by studio DR Movie (Elsword) and Kinema Citrus, while Masato Jinbo (Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2Wei!, Shakugan no Shana) is directing. The first season was directed by Takao Abo (Norn9), while Kinema Citrus also (Made in Abyss, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) took care of the animation.

The Rising of the Shield Hero is a Japanese light novel series by Aneko Yusagi with Seira Minami’s illustrations. Media Factory started serializing it in August 2013, and it currently has 22 volumes available. A manga adaptation by Aiya Kyu is also being published by the same publisher in Monthly Comic Flapper magazine. The cumulative copies of both light novel and manga series have already exceeded 11 million copies in circulation.

One Piece Books is publishing The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series in English. Season 2 will begin with volume 6 of the series, and you can read the synopsis below:

After their battle with Glass, Naofumi and his friends work to revitalize the Cal Mira islands before returning to the castle. On the ship back to Melromarc, they meet a young girl named Rishia, who claims to have been tricked and abandoned by her companions. Naofumi, sympathizing with her fate, agrees to listen to her story, and she joins the party. Eventually, Naofumi discovers that she has a talent for transformation magic, but before they can discuss it, someone comes running to beg the heroes for assistance. A monster wearing something like a turtle shell needs to be chased off. The monster is so powerful that even the mightiest adventurers cannot defeat him—so what hope is there for Naofumi? Those answers and more in volume 6 as the epic fantasy continues!

Leading the nation once again with a shield is Naofumi Iwatani. The popular Isekai series recently updated its fans with an announcement of the release date. Adding on to the excitement is the confirmation of a third season as well. Season 2 of Rising of The Shield Hero is scheduled for spring 2022. When Naofumi is teleported to a new world with a shield, he is crowned as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes. Naofumi becomes the Shield Hero, meant to defend the world from any calamities. He must give his all to survive. However, right after entering the new world, his supposed ally, the Kingdom’s princess betrays him and accuses him falsely of sexually assault.
Left alone, Naofumi trains hard to grow stronger. He buys Raphtalia, a fox girl and Filo, a strange creature hatched from an egg. Naofumi trains them too to become strong subordinates. As they accomplish more missions, they meet new people and prepare to save their world from an upcoming threat. Season 1 ended with Naofumi gaining a better place in his kingdom after a lot of struggles.
Season 2 takes Naofumi to take on a new mission from the Queen herself. The threat has once again been raised as rumours of the resurrection of the infamous Spirit Turtle rise. Naofumi with his strong team and new member, Lithia begin travelling east. On reaching the venue, the King informs him that the Spirit Turtle has been illegally resurrected by a girl. Naofumi searches for the culprit behind this calamity to save those he loves and considers precious.

Earlier in March 2022, it was announced that the Rising Of The Shield Hero will be released on 6 April 2022. The anime will be broadcast on AT-X in Japan. An official trailer was also uploaded along with the big announcement on the same day. As per the most recent update, the episode count of Rising of The Shield Hero Season 2 was announced.
The Blu-ray release of the second season released in Japan reveals that the Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 2 will have 13 episodes. The anime will be broadcasted in a single cour. If the anime airs without any breaks, it will run till the end of June 2022. So far there have been no announcements regarding any break in between the episodes.
