To weigh out chocolate chips, I used a kitchen scale to measure exactly one cup. One cup of standard chips weighs 6 ounces, so a 12-ounce bag would have two cups! *It is important to note that this is a dry measurement based on weight, not volume.

Breaking it down further, there are approximately 311 standard individual chocolate chip pieces in one cup. Keep in mind that different brands produce a variance in the number of individual pieces.

Mini Chocolate Chips

If your recipe calls for mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, there are approximately 6 ½ mini chocolate chips in 1 standard-size chocolate chip. There are roughly 1816 individual pieces in one cup of mini chocolate chips.

Jumbo Chocolate Chips

When using jumbo chocolate chips, 1 ½ standard-size chocolate chips are equivalent to 1 jumbo chip. One cup of jumbo chocolate chips contains approximately 186 individual pieces.
