How long does server maintenance take MLB The Show

MLB The Show 21 has had its launch marred by a series of server maintenance sessions.

The game officially released on April 20—having been in early access for special edition owners since April 16. Since then, it has been in and out of maintenance mode due to frequent server crashes and connectivity issues. This, of course, has left players with limited windows to actually access their new game. Several have voiced their frustration with the issues on social media from the time maintenance sessions are scheduled to hows long it has taken to fix the game.

Yesterday we deployed a server side update which has decreased the amount of unhandled server exceptions happening and improved overall server stability. If you continue having issues please report them here: https://t.co/9lfnRIw3lC . Thank you for your continued support.

Maintenance commonly occurs at 7 a.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) and lasts for anywhere between one to four hours. Before scheduled maintenance, Sony typically alerts players via MLB The Show 21's Twitter account. Advanced warning is given approximately 10 hours prior to server shutdown.

As fans can probably guess, the majority of these problems have to do with the game servers. Players have reported major connectivity issues en masse, including frequently receiving an "unhandled server exception" error message.

Some believe this stems from the sheer amount of new traffic heading to the MLB The Show servers after opening the franchise beyond PlayStation consoles. It's not unlikely that, with double the amount of players, the servers were overwhelmed. This theory has yet to be confirmed by an official source, however.

Unfortunately, there's no statement from Sony on when these problems will be completely fixed. MLB The Show 21 has entered maintenance at least five different times in the seven days it has gone public. This means players have only had two days of relatively uninterrupted access to play matches and accomplish their goals.

Players should keep a close eye on the MLB The Show 21 Twitter for any immediate updates or additional downtime.
