Too much sugar and you picture yourself in the mirror the next day with a new double chin and gut if you eat any more I was given a free package of marshmallows recently (from a promo for S'mores, in fact). Vanilla flavored. I had one. It was gross. Disgustingly sweet. And I'm someone who likes Froot Loops! When I first saw this commercial, I thought the kid putting out all the S'mores supplies was the dad. It took a while to realize he's the oldest kid. I think... Anything can happen in TV land. Probably because they look like a mess to handle/bite. Can't eat them now anyway, as Covid made me hypersensitive to sugar, so they'd just taste bad... Junior Executive Joined: 07 Dec 2008 I remember seeing a "recipe" for S'mores in a Boy Scout manual in the early 1970s.. Didn't sound too appealing to me because I'm not really a fan of marshmallows. Our family never made them while camping, and I never went camping with the boy scouts either. I grew up, got married, and my wife's family made them when she was a girl, so of course WE have to have them when we go camping. Yes, they are MESSY AS HELL to prepare and eat. Gooey melted marshmallow and melted chocolate are likely to get everywhere: hands, face, clothing. If you have young kids - and let's face it, there's no other reason to prepare these unless they're for kids - expect tears and frustration over burnt marshmallows,dropped-in-the-dirt Hershey bars and "dessert sandwich" contents that spill out on all sides when you bite into them. And then, you're left with a half-eaten sack of marshmallows to take home. Marshmallows are of one of those horrid foods that have no flavor beyond "sweet." Rice is good if you're hungry and feel like eating 2,000 of something. - Mitch Hedberg Revolutionary Joined: 16 Apr 2008 ^ Folks, the reality check.
