Harry Potter Master of Death Dr Strange fanfiction

Death doesn’t have time for this. He really doesn’t. With the Winchester stirring matters up in the US, the Muggle ‘Middle East’ affairs dragging on, and other matters going on behind the scenes that mortals could never imagine much less understand - all in addition to his regular workload - the last thing that Death needed to distract him was the welfare of a direly-neglected and abused child, barely-turned-eleven, who was about to start at a new school and new life that he would most likely not survive the first year of, without Death’s direct intervention. Seriously! He did not have time for this.

Fate had different ideas, however, and set the child on the path of becoming Death’s new master (and long-awaited replacement) if Death could keep the child alive long enough to take up his cloak, staff, ring, and burdens. If not, who knew how many more centuries Death would have to wait for another replacement.

What he needed to find was a child-minder he could trust with the care and safety of a child who was destined to become a cosmic force, but whom that minder would be, he had no idea, or at least he didn't until he was unexpectedly drawn to the death of another near cosmic entity, called the Ancient One.

Hogwarts will never be a safe place for Harry, but always before it seemed safer than Privet Drive. Now, however, someone (a Death Eater) somehow has entered him into the fabled Triwizard Tournament. To make things worse, their newest ally refuses to share any knowledge as to how this happened (or maybe he doesn't know). Time travel complicates everything, and Harry had enough wild cards in his life before time-traveling sorcerers were thrown into the mix.
But hey, he can do what's coming to be what he's best at: plan, wing it, and build alliances so that when the real threat rears its head, they're ready. He just has to last out this war without dying permanently. That should be easy enough, right? All he has to do is survive a Tournament discontinued due to its high death rate amongst "older" wizards, build a network of alliances, and, with his family's help, try to reweave fate to save as many people as possible from the immediate threat.
Looks like he won't be making much progress in the quest to find a way to defeat Thanos this year--but hey! At least he gets to bond with his godfather, and uncover even more secrets from the Marauders' past.

How does the wizarding world react when it finds out that it is not the only wizarding world? A young Harry is taken to the home of Dr Stephen Strange, and is far more ready for the challenges he will be made to face.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Absurd Phobia: Harry is a wiz (pun not intended) on a broomstick, flying at mach-speed high in the air on a piece of wood. Planes on the other-hand...

Harry: [N]ow I'm locked into a metal tube 5 miles above sea level that won't stop bouncing!

  • Age Lift: Harry meets a young Matt Murdock in New York for the summer.
    • Harry was born in 1980. According to the MCU wiki, Matt Murdock was born in the 1980s, to Maggie Grace and Jack Murdock. The writer has assumed that his birth year was 1980, in order for the timelines to fit together better.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: When Harry starts explaining sorcery to Ron and Hermione, the latter expresses disbelief at the idea of other dimensions. Harry then points out that they're in a magic school and just killed a troll.
  • The Archmage: Apparently the last person to be both a wizard and a sorcerer was Merlin.
  • Axes at School: Harry brings Dragonfang - a sentient relic sword carved from the tooth of an inter dimensional dragon - to school. When it is confiscated, Harry makes the argument that wands are equally as dangerous, if not more so.

Harry: Sir, Dragonfang has been with me for over two years, and I've formed a bond with it. It's the only tie I have to home while I'm here. Please, I don't use it, it's just to have, like a paperweight in the shape of a gun.
Dumbledore: I'm sorry Harry, but it's a very dangerous weapon. It's not that I don't trust you, it's that I'm worried another student will be hurt by it, like Mr Weasley was when he found it.
Harry: Dangerous? The spells we fire from our wands can kill people, and you won't let me have a dagger?!

  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: Dante Alighieri was a Master of the Mystic Arts, The Divine Comedy being a live account of an actual journey across dimensions.
  • Child Prodigy: After saving Hamid from an invading Mordo, Stephen decides to teach Harry with sorcery, where he manages to master it despite being far too young to be learning their ways.
  • Cut Himself Shaving: While Harry told Hermione and Ron the truth that he was ambushed by a Chimera in Quirrel's office, they agree not to tell Madam Pomfrey the truth and tell her that his wounds were from falling down the stairs.
  • Hidden Weapons: Dragonfang is able to turn invisible, allowing Harry to keep it a secret from the school before Percy Weasley literally stumbles upon it.
  • Holy Burns Evil: When on the run with the Darkhold, Harry tries to enter a church, but the Darkhold is repelled, and when he keeps trying it actually starts smoking.
  • Living Weapon: Harry's relic Dragonfang possesses a level of sentience all its own, helping Harry sense foreign sources of magic and even becomes jealous when Harry has to use a wand instead of it.
  • Mutually Exclusive Magic: There seems to be a distinctive difference between "wizardry" and "sorcery." Sorcery is practiced by the Masters of the Mystic Arts, is Eastern in origin, can be practiced by anyone, is very combat-focused and meshes well with modern technology. In contrast, wizardry is practiced by magical communities all over Europe, is Western in origin, can only be practiced by those with a natural affinity for magic (and even then they usually need a wand to perform spells), is much more mundane and archaic and in fact seemingly hampers muggle technology, which surprises Harry and Strange, since they know that Asgardians don't have that problem.
    • Harry later compared it to handedness. He is ambidextrous but needs to practice wizardry more, since he’s been focusing on sorcery for years.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Dumbledore has this moment when Stephen and Harry told him the horrible conditions Harry had to endure at the Dursley's.
  • Mythology Gag: Many references to the Marvel Universe as a whole are referenced in one form or another.
    • When searching for a relic of his own in the London Sanctum, Harry browses through various magical weapons, including the Book of Vishanti, the Six-Demon Bag, the Ebony Blade and the Seraphim before choosing the Dragonfang as his relic.
    • In one of Harry's letters, he asks Stephen to say hi to the Thing in the Cellar for him.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: When wondering how to get Norbert off the grounds, Ron and Hermione both forget that Harry can teleport until he reminds them of it.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Thanos takes one in Harry when the Other makes brief mental contact through the Darkhold and informs his master of him.
  • Would Hurt a Child: After Stephen admits that he has been teaching Harry sorcery, Mordo vows to find and kill him for the dishonor Stephen has brought.
    • Morgana is also more than willing to kill Harry to get the Darkhold.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Sorcery has no apparent connection to wizard magic, something that puzzles and frustrates Hermione to no end when she learns of it.
