There are only two types of people – those who prefer taking a shower and those who'd rather go for a nice relaxing bath. Those who don't mind squeezing a tube of toothpaste wherever it suits them, and those who always, always squeeze from the end. Whichever one you are, one thing is clear: Garnier will help you find just the right products for your skin type!

Do you struggle with various imperfections such as spots, blackheads or oily skin? Garnier designed two unique skin care products specifically for your needs: Pure 3in1 with clays and eucalyptus and Garnier PureActive 3in1 with active charcoal. They differ in colour, ingredients and the skin problem they target, but their ultimate goal is the same: to give you clear, healthy looking skin without imperfections. They are suitable for both women and men and you can use them in three different ways – as a cleansing gel, exfoliator or a mask.

So now to the important decision. Clays or charcoal? White Pure 3in1 is formulated to eliminate imperfections in your skin, mainly spots. It leaves your skin perfectly clean and prevents it from producing an excess sebum thanks to natural clays. This product for daily skin care is also enriched with eucalyptus extract to soothe your skin.

On the other hand, black Pure Active 3in1 is an immediate solution for blackheads. Its formula contains active charcoal which binds impurities like a magnet and deeply cleanses problematic skin.

Hey guys, a while ago I received a little package from Garnier with their new Pure Active Charcoal 3-in-1 products! I was very excited to try it because I had seen the products before and was curious to try them.

The package was very lovely. It contained the Pure Active Charcoal 3-in-1, the Pure Active Intensive cleanser, the Skin Active sheet mask, a matching black washcloth and a black face cloth. I’m mainly going to talk about the Charcoal 3-in-1 and the cleanser. I haven’t tried out the sheet mask yet but if you’d like a review on that, let me know!

THE PURE ACTIVE CHARCOAL 3-IN-1

The Pure Active Charcoal is a 3-in-1 product. It’s a black clay-ish product with little pieces to exfoliate. The formula contains charcoal and salicylic acid. I personally love to use the Pure Active Charcoal 3-in-1 as a mask because it dries so fast, making it quick and easy to combine it with my busy life. Furthermore, I love to use the exfoliating function it has when I am rinsing my mask off. By making circular motions when I am washing the product off of my face, my skin also gets exfoliated. Win-win! There are 3 different ways you can use the Pure Active Charcoal 3-in1 to clean and clear your face:

cleanser

It’s very easy to use it as a cleanser: just apply a little bit of product (a little goes a long way) on a wet face and rub it in lightly. Then rinse it off. It really leaves the skin fresh, soft and clean. The only negative point would be that after rinsing it off, some of the scrub parts are still there but that is not a problem in my opinion as I can just wipe it off later.

Scrub

You can use this product as a scrub as well to exfoliate your face. It’s very easy to use. Just rub it into the skin, make circular motions with your fingers and then rinse it off. I think this scrub is not too harsh for the skin. The scrub parts are really small which is important because you don’t want to bring more damage to your skin (hard and big scrub parts can cause micro tears which causes more breakouts and premature wrinkles).

Mask

It’s very quick and easy to use this as a mask. Just apply it on your face (you don’t need a lot, a little goes a long way), let it sit for 5 minutes and rinse off. I love using the Pure Active Charcoal like this. I apply it just a few minutes before I hit the shower so I can rinse the product off thoroughly. My skin feels really nice after a shower like that.

What I really like about this product is that it contains charcoal and salicylic acid. Charcoal has been known to treat acne, detoxify skin, unclog pores, and more. Salicylic acid is known for opening unclogged pores, fighting acne and exfoliating skin.

Now, I don’t really have acne but this product is specially designed for an ‘oily skin with imperfections’. I do have a combination skin, meaning that I have an oily T-zone and the rest of my face is normal. The product is also anti-blackheads and I believe that it does help to dissolve them because of the salicylic acid inside.

The product smells nice as well. It has a very fresh scent. You can definitely smell the salicylic acid it contains (I have another product that pretty much only contains salicylic acid and it smells the same). There is no alcohol in the ingredient list which is good because it really dries out the skin, and if you have oily skin, you should moisturize your skin, not dry it out.

The Pure Active Charcoal 3-in-1 is definitely approved by me and I would recommend it to anyone that struggles with ‘oily skin with imperfections’. The price is €8,99 which makes it a very affordable product as well. The bottle contains 150 ml and will probably last very long since you don’t need a lot of product when using it.

THE PURE ACTIVE INTENSIVE CLEANSER

The Pure Active Intensive Cleanser is a cleansing creme that exfoliates the skin. It contains blueberry extract and salicylic acid. We’ve already seen the benefits of salicylic acid in this blogpost so there’s no need to go over that again.

It’s really nice that there is blueberry extract in the cleanser. Blueberry extract is full of vitamin A, C and E, which all work to promote cell turnover, firm and tighten, and soothe the skin. It also contains resveratrol, which can help keep acne at bay while preventing sun damage and subsequent premature aging. Blueberries are also rich in something called anthocyanin, an antioxidant-like substance that repairs damaged skin and promotes positive growth, and Gallic acid, which can help reduce existing sun damage, including dryness and wrinkles (source: The Klog).

Once again, I use this product when I am taking a shower. I simply wet my face, apply the product while making circular motions and then rinse off. My face feels really nice afterwards and smells good. After the shower, I apply some moisturizer and then I am good to go!

The Pure Active Intensive cleanser is available online and in stores for a price around €5,00, which again is a great price considering the fact you get a bottle of 150 ml.

As you can probably tell, I am impressed by both products and would recommend them, especially to those who have oily skin. They are affordable and you get a big amount of product for the price you pay so it’s student budget friendly!
