Fermented Cod Liver Oil and Butter Oil

Fermented Cod Liver Oil and Concentrated Butter Oil CAPSULES by Green Pasture is the "perfect" combination of two thirds Raw Fermented Cod Liver Oil and one third of Raw Butter Oil was inspired by Dr. Weston A. Price in the 1930's, who discovered "Activator X", what we now know to be Vitamin K2. He is quoted as saying that "One without the other did not do his patients justice, but the two together worked like magic".

About the Ingredients

  • Raw Butter Oil Concentrated Through Centrifugation

Made from milk extracted from cows grazing on 100% rapidly growing grass on Northern Great Plains of Nebraska in the USA between May and October.

The timing of the cows grazing on this grass, species of grass, climate and extraction method are all important when it comes to making a High Vitamin Butter Oil. It takes approximately 4kg of cream to yield 225g of Raw Butter Oil.

Dr. Weston A. Price's research revealed that "Activator X" or Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble nutrient found in dairy cows fed a diet of rapidly growing green grass. It acts as a catalyst to help the body to absorb and utilize minerals and even aids in rebuilding body tissue, bones and teeth.

But the pinnacle of his discovery was the synergistic effect of combining High Vitamin Raw Butter Oil with Raw Fermented Cod Liver Oil which he believed had amazing healing properties.

  • The Raw Fermented Cod Liver Oil

Takes us back in time, when cod liver oil was truly a sacred food. The Raw Fermented Cod Liver Oil is lacto-fermented and gently extracted without heat over a period of 6 months to 1 year.

A substantial amount of today's cod liver oil is produced from farmed fish, however here the cod liver oil comes from MSC certified sustainable cod fish that are wild caught in the Alaska region.

Why High Vitamin?
The vitamin content is so high compared to any other oil on the market. In addition, the product is an unadulterated “natural vitamin” oil, containing some of nature's finest vitamins and other nutrients.

Why Fermented?

  • Whole food form
  • Wild, as provided by nature
  • Real, unsurpassed nutrition
  • Unadulterated natural fatty acid complex, nothing removed or changed
  • Rich in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), known to enhance muscle growth, lower insulin resistance, and support the immune system
  • Full, deep range of Nutrients, Enzymes, DHA, EPA, Omega 3, 6, 7, 9; Vitamins A, D, E, K1, K2, Quinones, Coenzyme Q10 and many other Important Biological Molecules
  • Deep, rich, historical processing methods
  • Non-industrialized production
  • Once a standard supplement in traditional European societies, cod liver oil provides fat-soluble vitamins A and D, which Dr. Price found present in the diet of primitives in amounts ten times higher than the typical Western diet of his day

Comes in convenient capsule form and in each bottle you’ll find 120 caps – enough to last you 60 days.

New packaging - same great product!

These easy-to-take capsules contain a ratio of 2/3 Blue Ice Fermented Cod Liver Oil and 1/3 X-Factor Gold High Vitamin Butter Oil.

Our nutritional hero, Dr. Weston A. Price, prescribed a combination of high vitamin cod liver and butter oils to his patients with great success. Of the synergy of the two oils, Price said ‘One without the other did not do my patients justice, but the two together worked like magic’

Price’s principle measures of health resulting from his prescription were:

  • marked recovery of dental health, particularly the healing of dental caries
  • significantly improved general immunity
  • strengthened vitality and robustness

Blue Ice™ Fermented Cod Liver Oil is a traditionally prepared, sacred food. The fresh livers of wild-caught Arctic cod are lacto-fermented and cold-processed, resulting in a pure, raw and truly nourishing nutritional powerhouse. Cod liver oil provides ample amounts of the fat-soluble vitamins A and D in their most readily absorbed forms, and the inflammation reducing and brain and nervous system supporting omega 3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. You can read more about Fermented Cod Liver Oil HERE.

X-Factor Gold™ High Vitamin Butter Oil is a cold-extracted dairy oil sourced from from cows eating 100% rapidly growing grass. The speed of the grass growth, timing of the grazing, species of grass, climate and extraction method are all-important factors in making this product the very best on the market.

Butter oil is a premium source of ‘Activator X’. Discovered by Dr. Weston A. Price in 1945, ‘Activator X’ (more recently thought to be vitamin K2) was determined to help both fat-soluble vitamins and dietary minerals more ‘useable’ by the body. X-Factor Gold™ High Vitamin Butter Oil contains impressive levels of Wulzen Factor, Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) and Butyric Acid and is is also a rich source of vitamin E and Co-Q enzymes. You can read more about X-Factor Gold Butter Oil HERE.

What is the difference between fermented vs. non-fermented?

Non-fermented cod liver oil (such as found in health food stores and supermarkets is processed and refined by molecular distillation. This process strips away the naturally-occurring nutrients, so synthetic vitamins are then required to boost the nutritional value of the oil. This process also requires the oil to be heated to high temperature, affecting the stability of the structure of the oil.

Fermented cod liver oil is 100% RAW and is produced by age-old traditional methods, fermented for up to 12 months in large stainless steel vats, without the use of any heat. This cold production makes the oil extremely stable.

It is completely free from synthetic vitamins and is naturally rich in EPA, DHA, Omega 3 and Vitamins A and D.

Utmost care is taken in the harvesting of this nutrient dense food.

How does it taste?

Fermented Cod Liver Oil has a very strong smell and fishy taste! Other cod liver oils available are molecularly distilled, removing not only the smell and taste, but also the naturally occurring nutrients.

The strong flavour of FCLO makes it difficult for some people to take and we recommend starting off with a tiny serving size to get used to it. It can also be applied topically on the skin (such as the feet) for children who cannot stomach the flavour.

The taste can also vary greatly from batch to batch – the result of a 100% natural food that is not manufactured in any way to make it the same all the time. Sometime it is thicker than others, sometimes it might have white solid particles (fats) in it or be more gritty (more silica) than others.

What are the serving suggestions?

We find the best way to take it is to keep it in the fridge, scoop 1/2 teaspoon out, mix with a little bit of honey (or just straight) then simply lick it off the spoon and swallow whole.

If you find the strong flavour of this product makes it difficult to take, we recommend taking the cod liver oil and butter oil separately or start off with a tiny serving size to get used to it. It can also be applied topically on the skin (such as the feet) for children who cannot stomach the flavour.

What are suggestions for kids?

The Oslo Orange FCLO is a great one to start with. It is milder than the other flavour and can easily be mixed into small amount of orange juice or milk (about 10mls or so).

We have found that It is usually easier to take FCLO and Butter Oil separately to begin with. The blend is often quite thick in texture and usually taken straight off the spoon. This makes it a little harder to disguise for those who find the taste difficult to swallow! Having said that, lots of kids do take the blend straight off the spoon and ask for more - so it's very individual of course.

When should I take FCLO?

Some people recommend taking FCLO on an empty stomach for superior nutrient absorption, but it can be a little overpowering. Fermented cod liver oil can be taken any time of the day, with or without food. This just comes down to personal preference.

What is the difference between butter vs. butter oil?

It takes about 4kg of cream to yield 230g of X-Factor Gold! What a precious food!

X-Factor Gold is made seasonally from May through October, from the milk of cows feeding on rapidly growing pasture. Rapid growth is the key to the Activator X content, and irrigation and rotational grazing are the keys to constant rapid growth. This is strictly maintained in the Green Pasture Products cow pastures.
