Episodes 1-35 follow the manga, so I guess stop after that and then start the manga at chapter 37. Although you'll be switching in the middle of the BREW arc, so you might want to start reading a few chapters before that at chapter 32 so you can read the whole arc. Show Our heroinesnote Soul Eater Not! is a manga from Atsushi Ohkubo, the same mangaka who did the original Soul Eater, and is set in the same universe. In fact it's something of a prequel that takes place a year before the start of the main series, though focuses on different characters with certain characters from the original series making cameos, or even playing a significant role. The manga originally ran in Monthly Shonen Gangan from 2011 to 2014. It was picked up for an English release by Yen Press, which includes both the collected volumes and a serial release in their online magazine YenPlus which was simultaneous with the Japanese release. 14-year old Tsugumi Harudori is a new student entering Death Weapon Meister Academy as part of the NOT (Normally Overcome Target) class. She is a Weapon, but is unable to control her transforming just yet which has lead her to be a little more than anxious about this opportunity. After some encouragement from a girl named Maka, however, Tsugumi attempts to face her first year in DWMA with high hopes. She soon meets and befriends two Meisters, Anya Hepburn and Meme Tatane, who are adamant in staying by Tsugumi's side and making her their weapon partner no matter what. Soul Eater Not! borders on being a Slice of Life manga, with most chapters focusing on the relationship between the main characters and their lives as DWMA students. The series also expands on certain aspects of the DWMA that were not properly explained in the main series, such as the school's uniform system or how students are ranked and assigned. It is notably much Lighter and Softer than its predecessor, but there are moments when the story will stray into rather ominous territory. An anime adaptation by BONES started airing on April 8th, 2014. Like its predecessor, it was also picked up and dubbed by Funimation. This manga contains the following tropes:
Is Soul Eater accurate to the manga? As with many long-running mangas, Soul Eater's anime wasn't completely faithful to its source material. For the most part, it starts that way, but by the mid-way point, the anime has become its own entity. Unlike most series, it's not even due to them catching up to the manga too rapidly.
Is Soul Eater ending different in the manga? In the ending of the manga, and following the deaths of Medusa and Death, the Witches and DWMA end their war and Death the Kid vows to never make anymore Death Scythes. This ending in the anime has never happened.
What episode does Soul Eater stop following the manga? After episode 35, the series began deviating from the manga it was based on, which ultimately lead to the creation of an anime original ending. Cover of the first Soul Eater DVD volume.
Is Soul Eater Not manga canon? The anime Soul Eater and Soul Eater NOT! are recognized as a secondary canon. This means even though these works are not directly done by Ohkubo like the mangas, they have the permissions from the said author and are considered just as canon as Ohkubo's work, despite whatever contradictions may occur.
