Dairy queen honey bbq chicken strips

Dairy Queen Chicken Strips had always been one of my favorite meal options at DQ as I’ve previously posted out in a former review. Plump chicken strips, hot fries, and buttery toast all dipped in country gravy.. what more could you ask for?  The new fad in fast food this past month appears to be doctoring up chicken strips so DQ has implemented their take on this fad. Dairy Queen is trying to appeal to dad’s and are attempting to give out the sports-bar, wing-eating feeling from a fast food joint. DQ’s 100% all-tenderloin white meat chicken strips are now available, tossed in a Honey BBQ Glaze and are served with crispy fries, Texas toast, and ranch dipping sauce. This is also available in a combo with a drink for just $1 more.   

As you can probably tell from the picture, the fries and the toast are a pretty light color and each could have been cooked a little bit longer. The fries were a little soggy and it was more buttered bread than toast. Luckily, I was more worried about trying and reviewing the Honey BBQ Glazed Chicken Strips when I ordered because my sides were pretty lackluster.

These strips made up for the crappy sides because they were great! They were cooked perfectly and were nice, large pieces of all white chicken breast meat. The sauce was everything you could ask for with a Honey BBQ as it gave you a perfect sweet, yet tangy mix. The only thing I didn’t understand was the need for ranch dressing. I understand the ranch to cut through the heat or vinegar in hot wings but was very much unneeded with these Honey BBQ strips. Ranch does NOT belong on BBQ.

These were my favorite of the recent chicken strip meals(more reviews to be posted in coming couple of days) that I have had and I really think that DQ hit it out of the park with this one. I would have loved to see the Honey BBQ stick around as an option that you could get all the time but I saw that they have already removed these from the menu. Sad to see such a good item go away so quickly but hopefully it will be back someday!
