Can you walk around with alcohol at Magic Kingdom?

Wondering where to get beer and alcohol at Magic Kingdom? Scroll on to find the eight restaurants where you can buy an adult beverage in the original Disney World park.

Let’s cut right to every parent’s question when pushing a stroller at Disney World: Is there alcohol at Magic Kingdom? Yes, you can get alcohol at Magic Kingdom—beer, wine, and even cocktails.

But alcohol at Magic Kingdom is not as easy to come by as it is at EPCOT and other Disney World Parks. Unlike at other parks, you’ve got to find an open table at one of only eight Magic Kingdom restaurants serving alcohol.

All eight restaurants are Table-Service, meaning you will almost always need to land an Advanced Dining Reservation to order a beer or alcohol at Magic Kingdom. That also means you won’t be able to grab a beer and walk around the park.

Which Restaurants Serve Alcohol in Magic Kingdom?

Eight restaurants serve alcohol in the Magic Kingdom, including beer, wine, and cocktails.

You can grab a beer at any of the following:

  • Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen
  • Be Our Guest Restaurant
  • Liberty Tree Tavern
  • The Crystal Palace
  • The Plaza Restaurant
  • Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
  • Cinderella’s Royal Table
  • The Diamond Horseshoe

Alcohol at Skipper Canteen

Skipper Canteen serves up two specialty cocktails: Skipper Sangria and Veranda Shandy. In addition, you can browse a short beer list and a more extensive wine list at Skipper Canteen.

Beer, Wine, and Cocktails at Be Our Guest Restaurant

The alcohol options are much more extensive at Be Our Guest—and much more expensive. In fact, you might remember the Squid’s Revenge cocktailthat Disney introduced for the 50th Anniversary Celebration. This michelada featured an actual charred octopus tentacle.

If you don’t want suction cups in your cocktail, Be Our Guest serves up plenty of beer, cider, wine, and champagne, including private label wine and champagne.

Adult Beverages at Liberty Tree Tavern

If you’re craving a mimosa in Magic Kingdom, Liberty Tree Tavern is a good bet. The Magic Kingdom restaurant also has two specialty cocktails that are worth your consideration: Spirit of ’76 Cider Shandy and Liberty Sangria.

The Liberty Tree Tavern menu lists a few beers, ciders, and wine options as well.

Alcohol at The Crystal Palace

The Crystal Palace is one of my favorite places to get beer and alcohol in Magic Kingdom. Pre-COVID, this buffet was a character dining experience, which checks a lot of my boxes.

But the all-you-can-eat food and hugs with Tigger are only part of the appeal of The Crystal Palace. This Magic Kingdom restaurant also serves up a few specialty cocktails, cheap beer and cider, and several tasty wines.

Beer and Wine at The Plaza Restaurant

American staples like steak, meatloaf, and chicken sandwiches are on the menu at The Plaza Restaurant—so a cold Magic Kingdom beer is the perfect pairing. You’ve got four options at The Plaza Restaurant (a list that’s a little too short for my liking).

If beer isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of wine to go around at The Plaza Restaurant.

Adult Beverages at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant

Wine is the main attraction at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant. As an Italian place, you’d think it would be the best place to get wine at Magic Kingdom. But no, that’s definitely Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Here at Tony’s, though, you can order a Wine Cocktail, but I’ve never tried it.

There are only two beers on tap at Tony’s, and I’m not crazy about the food either, so this is not usually my top suggestion when someone asks me where to get beer and alcohol at Magic Kingdom. I usually steer them toward Skipper Canteen or The Crystal Palace.

Alcohol at Cinderella’s Royal Table

Cinderella’s Royal Table is about the kids. This character dining experience, while it serves up great food, is focused on making memories for your little ones.

And as a thank-you to parents, Cinderella’s Royal Table has plenty of cocktails on the menu. You can also order flights of champaign, mimosas, and wine. In fact, Cinderella’s Royal Table has the most extensive list of wine at Magic Kingdom. You can even order dessert wine.

But don’t worry; there’s some good (French) beer on the menu here too.

Beer, Wine, and Cocktails at The Diamond Horseshoe

Another cheap spot to order alcohol at Magic Kingdom is The Diamond Horseshoe, where you’ll find cheap beer, a surprising amount of wine, and even some specialty cocktails.

Where to Get Beer and Alcohol Near Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom’s alcohol options are great, but if you can’t snag an Advanced Dining Reservation, you might be out of luck unless you venture out of the park. Luckily, Magic Kingdom is on the monorail loop, giving you quick access to three Disney Resort hotels, all of which have restaurants and lounges serving up booze.

You can find beer and alcohol just outside Magic Kingdom at:

  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Some of the restaurants and lounges may require ADRs; others are Quick-Service or offer first-come, first-served basis.

You can also reach EPCOT from Magic Kingdom via the monorail. And as you likely know, alcoholic beverages abound at EPCOT.

Where to Get Cheap Beer at Magic Kingdom

There are plenty of places to get beer and alcohol at Magic Kingdom, but with a $79 bottle of champagne on the menu at Be Our Guest, we don’t blame you for hunting for a deal.

The cheapest beer you can have at Magic Kingdom is still $8 for a pint. It’s pretty comparable to a beer at a professional sporting event, so considering it to be “cheap” requires a little perspective.

You can find $8 beers at:

  • Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen
    • Blue Moon Belgian White Ale, Colorado
    • Michelob Ultra Lager, St. Louis
  • Be Our Guest Restaurant
    • Hoegaarden Wit, Belgium
  • Liberty Tree Tavern
    • Bud Light Pale Lager, St. Louis
  • The Crystal Palace
    • Bud Light Lager, St. Louis

Of the restaurants included on this list, only Skipper Canteen and the Liberty Tree Tavern give you two $8 options. Liberty Tree Tavern (along with Be Our Guest and Diamond Horseshow) has the largest selection of beer at Magic Kingdom, with seven beers on tap.

The Best Beer in Magic Kingdom: Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale

Forget the price tag for a minute. If you are truly after the best beer experience in Magic Kingdom, where should you go?

My vote is Skipper Canteen. Why? They’ve got the exclusive Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale, in honor of the Adventurers Club. There are only three places to get this delicious beer, and this is the only place in Magic Kingdom to taste its amber goodness.

Over in Animal Kingdom, you can order the Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale at the Nomad Lounge or Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks. The latter is the only place to order it without sitting down for a meal at a Table-Service restaurant.

The Kungaloosh ale, brewed by Concrete Beach Brewery, has a 6% ABV, an eye-catching ruby color, and a strong taste of spice (cinnamon is the most notable) that evokes Christmas, even in the dead of summer.

Right now, the Kungaloosh Spiced Excursion Ale is on the Skipper Canteen menu for $9.75 a pint.

A History of Alcohol at Magic Kingdom

Be Our Guest was the first place to sell alcohol at Magic Kingdom. Photo by Judd Helms

Once upon a time, the Most Magical Place on Earth relied solely on Imagineering and pixie dust to make the magic. That is, until 2012, when Disney lifted Magic Kingdom’s status as a “dry park.”

That’s when Be Our Guest came onto the scene, and be their guest we did by cracking open a beer!

So why did it take more than 40 years for Magic Kingdom to serve alcohol? Well, Walt believed that allowing any kind of alcohol in the parks would lead to rowdiness.

It wasn’t until Disney World’s second park, EPCOT, opened in 1982 that you could get a beer at any Disney Park. And Disneyland was notably dry until Oga’s Cantina opened in Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.

Disney World keeps out the rowdiness that Walt feared by limiting your alcohol options to Table-Service. That means no quick beer runs before getting in line for Mad Tea Party (and you’re insane if you think that would be a good idea).

I think it’s a nice compromise. Magic Kingdom, of all the parks, is truly the one most set aside for families with young kids. And when I’m feeling like a child at heart, I’ll most definitely stop by, grab a Peter Pan Float, and hop on Splash Mountain.

But when I’m ready for a refreshing beer to battle that Florida heat? Well, you can find me at EPCOT.

Here’s the Best Place to Get a Craft Beer in Animal Kingdom

Can you walk around Disney World with alcohol?

Can I bring alcohol into the Disney theme parks? Sorry, no. The list of items that guests are prohibited from bringing into the parks includes both glass and alcohol. That said, they do sell full bottles of alcohol (mostly wine, but some others as well) at EPCOT and Animal Kingdom.

Can you walk and drink at Disney?

Guests may now eat and drink while moving outdoors. Previously, guests were required to remain stationary while eating or drinking. Cast Members would remind guests who violated the previous policy to put on their masks or stop and go off to the side of a busy area to eat or drink while stationary and distanced.

Can you walk around Downtown Disney with alcohol?

There are two locations inside Disneyland Park that serve alcohol – Blue Bayou Restaurant and Oga's Cantina at the Disneyland Resort. You'll have to enjoy your drinks inside these venues - you can't walk around the park with alcohol.

Why dont they serve alcohol in Magic Kingdom?

Prior to that, the park had a strict no-alcohol policy since its opening in 1971 as part of Walt Disney's original vision to create a family-friendly experience. The rule remains in place at the original Disneyland park in California, except for Disneyland's VIP Club 33.
