If the highest amount used from your overdraft the month before is:
• $10 or more - you'll be charged $10
• less than $10 - you won't be charged a fee

There are no set minimum repayments.
While there is no set amount to pay back each month, you should aim to repay your overdraft as soon as possible to minimise any fees and interest.

  • You can apply for a Personal Overdraft if you’re:

    • Aged 18 years or above
    • An Australian permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or eligible visa holder living in Australia
    • Eligible to work in Australia and receiving regular income
    • Have a good credit rating
    • Already hold or eligible to open a CommBank Everyday Account

    The Code of Banking Practice requires joint account holders to have equal use of an overdraft.

How do I overdraw my Commonwealth ATM?

Your overdraft funds can be accessed via your CommBank keycard or Debit MasterCard, or online through NetBank and the CommBank app. To apply you can either call the Commonwealth Bank directly or visit your local branch.

Can you overdraw a debit card at an ATM?

There are no set limits on how much you can overdraft at an ATM. These amounts vary from one financial institution to the next and many times are even tailored to each individual account holder. Other factors to consider are whether you are using your bank's ATM or those owned by another financial institution.

How much will CommBank let me overdraw?

A personal overdraft is connected to your CommBank Everyday account, so you can enjoy easy access to extra funds once approved – from $100 up to $20,000.

How does overdraw work CommBank?

It allows you to access additional funds should you run out of your own. Like most loans, by accessing your overdraft you'll be charged interest on the money you borrow. If, for example, you have an overdraft limit of $1,000 but only use $50, you'll pay interest on the $50 that you use.
