She wants Zip to be "attracting those guests who are on a particularly tight budget but still expect and deserve the basics done brilliantly". how very depressing and yet representative of our "live to work" culture. 0 muggins14 Posts: 61,711 Forum Member ✭✭ 24/09/17 - 12:55 #15
Unfortunately it goes hand-in-hand with our 'desire to eat' and 'pay the bills' culture 3 Mudbox Posts: 10,110 Forum Member ✭✭ 24/09/17 - 12:58 #16

those two things are quite easily doable without having to spend 5 days a week in a travel tavern 0 muggins14 Posts: 61,711 Forum Member ✭✭ 24/09/17 - 13:14 #18
Well we don't know the OP's circumstances - perhaps he likes his job and it pays well and he feels the situation is worth it, perhaps the alternatives aren't that attractive (taking a lower paid job elsewhere in a less satisfying job). Who knows. Everybody's circumstances are different. I'd be worrying more about the people who are living on nearly nothing, forced to work zero hours, etc. than somebody who has a job which means they can afford to even consider staying in a hotel long-term. 0 TUTV Viewer Posts: 6,236 Forum Member ✭ 24/09/17 - 13:44 #19
Yes, many times for work. At one point, I spent 16 continuous months living out of hotels. Including nearly 6 months in "The Midland" in Manchester, 2 months in a Marriott in York, a month in The Hilton in York - I couldn't face going away on holiday for nearly 2 years after that. As well as other stints which included three months in what was the Carlton Highland in Edinburgh. I'd recommend that you find the email address of hotels (not just Travelodge etc) that are convenient for where you want to stay and make direct contact with them - you'll get a very good deal direct with them if you block book for months at a time. 3 tealady Posts: 26,062 Forum Member ✭✭✭ 24/09/17 - 14:05 #20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuN7kOW7iwo 0 barbeler Posts: 23,828 Forum Member ✭✭✭ 24/09/17 - 15:47 #21 Many homeless people in Peterborough have been forced to live at Travelodge for extended periods because they were evicted from their homes to make way for homeless people from Barnet.
